And the LORD appeared to Solomon in Gibeon one night in a dream, and God said to him: Ask for whatever you want me to give you. 6 And Solomon said, You showed great mercy to your servant David my father, because he walked before you in truth, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart towards you; and you have reserved this great mercy for him, in that you gave him a son to sit on his throne, as it is today. 7 Now therefore, Jehovah my God, you have made me your servant king in the place of David my father; and I am young, and I don't know how to get in or out. 8 And your servant is among your people whom you chose; a large town, which cannot be counted or numbered because of its multitude. 9 Therefore give your servant an understanding heart to judge your people, and to discern between good and evil; Because who can govern this great town of yours?
10 And it pleased the Lord that Solomon asked this. 11 And God said to him, Because you have asked for this, and have not asked for many days for yourself, nor have you asked for riches for yourself, nor have you asked for the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to hear judgment, 12 behold, I have done it according to to your words; Behold, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so much so that there was no one like you before you, nor will there arise another like you after you. 13 And I have also given you the things you did not ask for, riches and glory, so that among kings there will be none like you throughout your days. 14 And if you walk in my ways, keeping my statutes and my commandments, as your father David walked, I will lengthen your days.

Let's imagine the following: at a certain moment God appears before us and asks us: son, what do you want? Ask and I will simply give it to you. I think the most complicated job here is to think about what we would respond. Surely the most common thing is to ask for health or safety for our loved ones, some amount of money to cover some of the large debts we have. or ask for health and long life. This is perhaps the most common thing we can ask for and let us remember Solomon, perhaps he could have also asked for something similar but it was not like that, what Solomon wanted was a wise heart and in this way he could optimally serve the people of God.
I do not believe that Solomon's life is completely complete without need, just like us, perhaps he would also have needs and desires that were different or not from ours, but at that moment when God gave him the opportunity for Solomon to ask him for something to God, Solomon decided to ask according to God's interests. Let us remember in this story that God was so pleased with this that apart from granting him wisdom, he also granted him riches and many honors. This also leads us to remember what he says in his word as advice or great recommendation.
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and the righteousness thereof, and all these things will be added to you.
Matthew 6:33
Can we ask and may God give us riches? Maybe so or not, maybe not of long life or influence but I am sure that God will always give us everything we need according to his purpose. The king's heart fervently desired to seek the kingdom of God and his justice, and God stole many ways from him. This is our example for that moment when we cry out to God and ask, we must be very clear about what our priorities are since we have the great opportunity for God to work in our favor in an impressive way in any aspect.

Y se le apareció Jehová a Salomón en Gabaón una noche en sueños, y le dijo Dios: Pide lo que quieras que yo te dé. 6 Y Salomón dijo: Tú hiciste gran misericordia a tu siervo David mi padre, porque él anduvo delante de ti en verdad, en justicia, y con rectitud de corazón para contigo; y tú le has reservado esta tu gran misericordia, en que le diste hijo que se sentase en su trono, como sucede en este día. 7 Ahora pues, Jehová Dios mío, tú me has puesto a mí tu siervo por rey en lugar de David mi padre; y yo soy joven, y no sé cómo entrar ni salir. 8 Y tu siervo está en medio de tu pueblo al cual tú escogiste; un pueblo grande, que no se puede contar ni numerar por su multitud. 9 Da, pues, a tu siervo corazón entendido para juzgar a tu pueblo, y para discernir entre lo bueno y lo malo; porque ¿quién podrá gobernar este tu pueblo tan grande?
10 Y agradó delante del Señor que Salomón pidiese esto. 11 Y le dijo Dios: Porque has demandado esto, y no pediste para ti muchos días, ni pediste para ti riquezas, ni pediste la vida de tus enemigos, sino que demandaste para ti inteligencia para oír juicio, 12 he aquí lo he hecho conforme a tus palabras; he aquí que te he dado corazón sabio y entendido, tanto que no ha habido antes de ti otro como tú, ni después de ti se levantará otro como tú. 13 Y aun también te he dado las cosas que no pediste, riquezas y gloria, de tal manera que entre los reyes ninguno haya como tú en todos tus días. 14 Y si anduvieres en mis caminos, guardando mis estatutos y mis mandamientos, como anduvo David tu padre, yo alargaré tus días.

Imaginemos los siguiente: en un momento determinado aparece Dios delante de nosotros y nos pregunta: ¿hijo, qué es lo que tú deseas? Pide y yo simplemente te lo daré, creo que el trabajo más complicado aquí es pensar qué es lo que responderíamos, seguramente lo más común es pedir sanidad o seguridad para nuestros seres queridos, algún monto de dinero para cubrir alguna de las grandes deudas que tenemos o bien pedir salud y larga vida. Esto quizá es lo más común que podemos pedir y recordemos a Salomón, quizás él también podría haber pedido algo similar pero no fue así, lo que Salomón deseaba era un corazón sabio y de esta manera poder servir de manera óptima al pueblo de Dios.
No creo que la vida de Salomón esté totalmente completa sin necesidad, al igual que nosotros quizás también tendría necesidades y deseos diferentes o no a los nuestros pero en ese momento en que Dios le dio la oportunidad de qué Salomón le pidiese algo a Dios, Salomón decidió pedir conforme a los intereses de Dios. Recordemos en esta historia que a Dios le agrado tanto esto que aparte de concederle sabiduría también le otorgó riquezas y muchos honores. Esto también nos lleva a recordar lo que dice en su palabra como un consejo o gran recomendación.
33 Mas buscad primeramente el reino de Dios y su justicia, y todas estas cosas os serán añadidas.
