WHEN WE DONT UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF LOVE

Lack of understanding of the true meaning of love has brought a lot of problems to many marriages. For some, love is "buying me whatever I want" and when that is not being done satisfactorily, the house is turned into a war zone - ugly words are used, resentment is developed and sex is denied, and marriage suffers. For some, love is "making me happy", but I am not obligated to making you happy. Love means different things to different people. No matter what it means to you, one thing is certain, that we all believe in love. Love is a force that moves and drives the life of men. God is love.

Love is not selfish or self-centered but sacrificial. It is giving and not just receiving. In a relationship, the people involved should begin the giving side and not on the receiving side. When both are involved in giving and not waiting to receive, the relationship will be full of life and will last a lifetime. Be a giver of love and not a receiver.

True love looks beyond material things into the heart to established a link. With this kind of love in operation people can put up with the weaknesses of those they are in relationship with and bear the unexpected that will come up.

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
8 Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8.)

Anyone with this kind of love operating in him or her will certainly make a good spouse. Nurture this love, which is in you as a nature through Jesus Christ, and make it take over your life. Give it expression and you will love what you will see. Let this nature influence your thoughts, words and actions.

Allow the love nature of Christ in you to dominate and influence your thoughts, emotions, responses and actions. Do not wait for your spouse to make you happy, strive to make your spouse happy and you will be the progress. Put in your best into your relationship. Be selfless in your conversation, suggestions, advice, decisions and actions. Do not wait for your spouse to be the one to buy you a gift on your wedding anniversary, but be first to buy a gift for your spouse. Strive to outdo each other in love.
