STEEMCHURCH: The technique and the faith
The characteristic of the modern world is technique. The man seems to have seized the matter and is about to climb to the top of the universe, as absolute king. There is no field of science where you are not working furiously and successfully. Man has absolute certainty that in a few years all nature will dominate.
This immense technique, which is beginning to reach us slowly in Colombia, has brought a weakening of the faith or a total atheism. For many, the solution to everything lies in science, in the mathematical formula. They judge that the great questions of a spiritual nature and the great theological questions are unscientific questions. What is man? Where you come from? where it goes? Is there something outside and superior to man? Is there someone who was in the beginning of the universe as its first cause? All these great questions, many modern scholars have as unscientific questions. However, in the heart of man he rushes relentlessly in question: Who am I? Where do I come from? Who are you, my God, if you exist?
In cafés of the universities of Sweden and Russia and Tel Aviv, young people trained in scientific atheism or an atheistic humanism spend hours wondering the questions that did not get satisfactory answers from their teachers. What is man, where does he come from, does God exist?
The age of technology is also reaching our homeland. In universities, our young people do not study but technique, equations. Even the technique tries to invade the field of law and justice. University professors are obliged to do, before their students, the wonderful Christian synthesis of faith and science. It is not enough for man to take pride in dominance over matter; if he finds no consolation for his death, he will be destroyed forever. It does not matter that everything calculates and everything submits to formulas, it does not matter that it solves all social problems. If you have erased the worship of your life, you will be a being of inconsolable sadness.
