Steem Basic Income - Weekly Voting Distribution (23 May 2018)
Steem Basic Income
Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.
Still Going Strong
We are up to seven pools, so your upvotes could come from @steembasicincome, @sbi2, @sbi3, @sbi4, @sbi5, @sbi6, or @sbi7. We currently have 2362 members that have posted within the last 28 days. Unfortunately the members that are not posting are not receiving upvotes. There are currently 14076 'shares' in the program, and it grows every day.

Managing voting power around inactive members is an ongoing challenge. Since we allocate votes based on weekly voting power and weekly posting history, we identify inactive accounts as accounts that have not posted in the last 7 days.
The portion of inactive members in pool 1 is rising above 20% again. Some of these actively comment, but not post, so they will start receiving upvotes when we finish our automation project.
Lately we have been more successful in redistributing the excess voting power that should go to the inactive members to active members, so that it is not wasted. With so many inactive members, we have only been able to upvote 373 of the members in pool 1!
@josephsavage does not post frequently enough to get value from his management shares, so most of them are temporarily assigned to @katysavage until the automation project is finished. Since she also has over 100 shares of her own, it keeps her at the top of the pool.

As more members begin maxing out the 100 share limit in more than one pool, we really start to see how effectively our voting weight allocation work! Look how even the top six accounts in this pool are in their weekly voting weight received. With maxed out shares in the pool, and maxed out voting bonuses, they should be very evenly matched in their value received.
Since we capped management shares in pool 1 at 500, we will start to see @katysavage inch ahead over the next few weeks as program growth continues to create more management shares at 5% of total shares.
Pool 3 accounts voted
Pool 3 upvotes come from @sbi3!

Since members with more shares are actively moved up through the pools, the members that are capping out represent larger percentages in the lower pools. We see this very clearly here, with strong representation from @dynamicgreentk, @andrewharland, and @thedailysneak!
Pool 4 accounts voted

We are still working to rebalance inactive members from pool 4 down into pool 5. With such a high inactive rate, Pool 4 has the highest voting power % of any pool. Accordingly, we have kept the auto-vote on @steembasicincome in place. In addition, we have been using that account for upvoting member comments, replying, and making sure that any SBI comments with upvotes from members exceed the dust threshold.
Pool 5 accounts voted
Pool 5 upvotes come from @sbi5!

Pool 5 has reached its maximum member level and is starting to deal with high inactivity as we continue to move inactive members down from pool 4. We reactivated the auto-vote on @steembasicincome when the voting power reached 100%, and it received 6.1% of the upvote from @sbi5 this week.
Now that voting power has fallen back toward 80, we will deactivate the auto-vote again next time we find that rule in our rebalance cycle.

Pool 6 is almost full now. It has grown very quickly! The number of votees in the pool almost doubled this week from 192 to 363. Since it mostly has members with few shares and high posting frequency, the distribution chart is more even.
With the pool growing faster than we can rebalance, there has been some strain on the voting power in pool 6. We are working on making the appropriate adjustments to that pool so that members can receive the full level of support they should be receiving from that pool.
Pool 7 accounts voted

This month we launched pool 7 and started to fill it with some of the most active members. Moving the members with high posting frequency out of pool 6 will allow them to receive fair upvotes without draining the voting power in pool 6. We are doing something a little different in pool 7, though.
Instead of distributing tiny upvotes evenly across every post, members in pool 7 will be capped at 2 upvotes per day. Their weekly voting weight will be divided by 14 (2 per day) instead of their full posting frequency. If you post frequently and your votes stop, please check all of your posts for upvotes from @sbi7. You may be receiving 2 votes per day instead of upvotes on every post.
We started @sbi7 out supporting @steembasicincome updates to move the voting power away from 100% so that none is wasted. It continues to reach 100% periodically, and we will leave it on until voting power drops below 90%. This week that resulted in 7.9% of voting power going to @steembasicincome.
Conclusion
We are still working on our project to fully automate all the processes, but enough improvements have been made to support a more consistent update pattern. In addition, we launched our new discord server over the weekend. Drop by, say hello, and introduce yourself to some of your fellow SBInians! https://discord.gg/WWUNapu
Enrollment
If you want to get involved, or to increase the share of basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:
Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 share in the program. You can sponsor any active Steemian, it does not have to be a current member.
If you're unclear, please check out our full transaction memo guidelines and then let us know if you have any questions.

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. We are not currently accepting SBD for enrollments transactions.

Questions?
Please read our recently published FAQ. Most questions are addressed in our FAQ or in the additional resources that it suggests. To review your share counts, we explain our tracking sheet here. If you still have questions, ask in the comments section or join us in our discord channel.
A few questions please. Someone gifted me one SBI and I see it voting for me. So I bought a share for another user. I have researched your posts, and if I understand correctly I have to look at your Google doc spreadsheet to see how many shares I have. Perhaps my eyes are worse than I thought, but i have spent hours scrolling through so many names from the pool that has been voting on me and I can't find my name anywhere. Is there anyway to actually search my name and stop wasting hours to come up empty handed?
Also, when I buy a share for another, do I get notified when it goes through?
Hi @practicalthought,
Joseph currently updates the spreadsheet and the voting manually, so it usually takes a day or two for shares to be updated. Since your share buy was yesterday it just isn't active yet.
At the moment users are notified only when they're first enrolled. I don't think that's automated yet, either, so doing them for every transaction would make everything else slower.
Try ctrl+f to search for your name.
I wasn't notified, but I checked in the wallets of the people I had sponsored. It would be good to be notified (as part of the automation process?), in case sponsors want to write a followfriday type post, spreading the word about steembasicincome at the same time
Thank you. Was able to find it using control F. Was weird though, my user name was not listed in the pool voting for me, it was in one after it. At least it is good to know it wasn't my eyes, lol. I became convinced years ago they have been making print smaller so I would have a harder time reading.
I have a large screen monitor, so the print size I work with might be less comfortable for others. There are ways to resize the print on the page.
It's possible you were shifted from one pool to the next.

Hey, quick question please. I know from comments that you are manually doing everything. How far back are you backlogged? I bought 1 SBI for @snowpea 4 days ago and still not seeing it go through yet. I don't use the discord, so apologize for asking here.
That has been processed. Both of you had previous enrollments, and we only send confirmation transactions on initial enrollment (because of the manual processing).
What of those using phone to browse
On the drop down menu (three lineson the top left hand corner) select the 'find on page' that will brong up the search bar
ctr+f and there are also one tab for each voter pool I think
Great news. Too bad some share owners don't post to reap the benefits of owning shares. Even 1 post a week could help your bottom line.
I won a share or 2 in a contest about 4 days ago but I am not getting any votes yet. why is that? I can't find my name in the latest spreadsheet at all.
Have you checked with thw owner of the contest that the fee has been paid? May be worth checking thier wallet history first

As a friendly reminder, the current upvote fee is $0.12 SBD ($0.121 for incognito). Current 300%+ upvote is now $0.36+ SBD.

will u vote on our every post?
Pool 7 is capped at 2x per day, but otherwise yes; we try to vote on every post.
You mean two times a day? Sorry, i am new here. So, too much question.
Yes, but we just changed it to 1 upvote per day in pool 7 because we found that upvotes weren't going out correctly with the lower weights.
Great program, of course — well worthy of support, especially for the way it can help newcomers.
Have you considered publishing updates for each pool, including the the updated spreadsheet page belonging to that group? It might make it easier for members to find themselves and their current shares and vote information... AND it would potentially serve as a source of (partially) self-sustaining or supplementary income to help fund each group.
I'm just thinking of this from a sustainability angle.
We have a regular cycle of updates. This is a good suggestion to publish the full list periodically (@ mentions!) as part of our standard update cycle. I only stopped because it was a lot of work to validate the list and publish into markdown (more work than our other updates).
When we get far enough through our automation, we plan to set each account to publish its own daily list of posts that were voted on and by how much.
