SEC-S10W4 : A Terrible day of my life
I find it quite interesting to share with you friends the terrible day of my life in this particular contest and I hope that you will benefit and also learn from my story especially when it has to do with our life. It all happened this way.
What was the terrible day of your life? What happened to you that day?
Sometimes in July, when i was at my twenties, it all began at the past midnight. Everywhere was cold and quiet because of the heavy downpour throughout the day, except the miniature creaky sounds of the insects, But there comes a thunderous sound at the door, the door was hit in such a way that the Locking engine started pulling off, the door was guarded by a protector, this time the protector was not locked, it was swinging to and from as the hitting continues.
On that fateful day, I happened to sleep in the sitting room with my cousin, my parents were in their bedroom. The hit at the door was quite severe and continuous, I was worried and confused, my hands were sweating, my heart thumped repeatedly like horse hoovering on a swampy road. My Dad rushed in, and whispered to me; Those are Armed Robbers then he gets to the next room took my younger sister then hide in the bathroom, everyone had to find their hiding spot, my mum, my cousin they all secure their hiding places. But my curiosity, my course of action took over any sense that I ever had.True enough, my caution was justified this time. I decided to wedged a support and put some defense, I implored every effort and strength to lock the protector behind, but my effort was in vain as the door was already loosen and dislocated on it's base. 6inches blocks was what they used in bouncing the door. I was over powered and captured, I was like a prisoner of war and before me was a tall masculine man about six feet height with a matchet in front of me.
With a thunderous voice, he echoed; Where are your parents and I replied with a terrified voice, telling him am the only one around in the house, this time he cautioned me that if he finds anyone else in the house that I will pay for my life, but I insisted that there is no one else around.
I was pushed forward while the search begin, we checked every nooks and crannies in the building. Finally my Dad was found in his hiding spot, he seems like a child that is guilty of wrongdoing, he started begging for his life, everything that was requested from him he provided for it; the car keys, money and so on, when he turned against me for misleading him, but before he could even take any action I grabbed him with the matchet my younger sister also joined the struggle. Perhaps, my intention was not to fight back, but to defend my self, unfortunate for him he fell down with the help of an obstacle, then we overpowered him. But little did I know that he was not alone, they were many going from house to House, door to door.
When he screamed "Mopol" he called for backup gangs of men armed with Ak47 and Pump actions jump through the fence, they were shooting at random;spreading bullets under beds, the roof and everywhere, I was pinned down, they threatened to kill me for fighting them, I was also instructed not to look up. I was badly wounded, I was terrified, I pray silently throughout the whole situation.
After a long hour of operations I was asked to get up and kneel down in bathroom facing the wall. There was a serious argument that erupted amongst them regarding my life, but all I could realized was that one was soliciting for my life and they finally ended the argument with a shot at a close range from where I was, I was half death until I was wake by my sister and they finaly left with everything, Dad's car and properties, But the good thing was that everyone were save. It was the most terrible experience I ever had in my childhood which i can never forget.

Have similar terrible events happened repeatedly in your life? How do you keep yourself away from it if it happens? And do you still shudder when you remember that terrible day?
No, I have never experience that again till now in my life.
Even though I was extremely terrified then, and I was grateful that the robbers did not take my life. Thinking about the whole situation,
I would have done better, If I didn't resist them. but we all have to live and learn as we grow.
And since this had happened in quite a long time, am no longer be terrified is only when I sense some dangers similar that may lead to robbery incident or some strange actions around. But since then, I have been getting along with such experience.

What lessons have you learned from that terrible event in your life and what do you want to tell others about it?
I have learn that it important we become security conscious at every point in time, ensure where we are living is well secured.
It is better to be safe than to be sorry.
When Armed robbers are operating within your premises at moment you are trapped, it is not wise to stay hidden, instead remain visible to them to avoid being hit by their random spree.
What I can tell others is when experience. robbery incidence try to
Remain calm and do not fight back– Whatever they may request from you, give them. When they ask you not to move, Don't move.
Do not try to stare or look at their faces is the matter of life and death.
