Happy Birthday Steem, 4-Years-Old Today

in #steem5 years ago

The Steem blockchain is 4 years old today. I've been here for a great deal of that time. As we all know there are many difficult things currently happening. Still I'd like to recognize this milestone.

My position is simply this:

  • I wish HIVE and those who went there nothing but success and I may even join you at some point.

  • I will try to protect and support Steem until some of the emotion dies down and I can evaluate where it is headed if anywhere as well as protect my power down.

  • Protecting and supporting Steem is not the same as justifying all of Justin's actions. Remember he owns 20% of the stake and SteemIt Inc.

  • Before getting involved in another project, I'd like to see a month or two of it's progress and how the team works together and remains motivated.

My Birthday Posts on Steem have been an annual event, so I'm posting this incase there isn't one next year.

What to expect from your 4 year old

Your child is growing up. Have you noticed that your 4-year-old is becoming more independent and self-confident? If not, you will in the coming year.

Most children this age begin to develop greater independence, self-control, and creativity. They are content to play with their toys for longer periods of time, are eager to try new things, and when they get frustrated, are better able to express their emotions.

Although children grow and develop at their own pace, your child will likely achieve most of the following developmental milestones before he or she turns 6 years old.

4- to 5-Year-Old Development: Language and Cognitive Milestones
Your curious and inquisitive child is better able to carry on a conversation. In addition, your child's vocabulary is growing -- as is his or her thought process. Not only is your child able to answer simple questions easily and logically, but he or she should be able to express feelings better.

Most children at this age enjoy singing, rhyming, and making up words. They are energetic, silly, and, at times, rowdy and obnoxious.

Other language and cognitive milestones your child may achieve in the coming year include being able to:

Speak clearly using more complex sentences
Count ten or more objects
Correctly name at least four colors and three shapes
Recognize some letters and possibly write his or her name
Better understand the concept of time and the order of daily activities, like breakfast in the morning, lunch in the afternoon, and dinner at night
Have a greater attention span
Follow two- to three-part commands. For example, "Put your book away, brush your teeth, and then get in bed."
Recognize familiar word signs, such as "STOP"
Know his or her address and phone number, if taught

4- to 5-Year-Old Development: Movement Milestones and Hand and Finger Skills
Children learn through play, and that is what your 4- to 5-year-old should be doing. At this age, your child should be running, hopping, throwing and kicking balls, climbing, and swinging with ease.

Other movement milestones and hand and finger skills your child may achieve in the coming year include being able to:

Stand on one foot for more than 9 seconds
Do a somersault and hop
Walk up and down stairs without help
Walk forward and backwards easily
Peddle a tricycle
Copy a triangle, circle, square, and other shapes
Draw a person with a body
Stack 10 or more blocks
Use a fork and spoon
Dress and undress, brush teeth, and take care of other personal needs without much help

feels like just yest, thanks for the info as i had no idea today was that day

yep, everyone missed it.

Congratulation.
I'm optimistic about both projects. Each in it's own way.
Keep calm and steem on.

^ Exactly... They could both survive or neither.

I also stay with steem.

Wow, 4 years! I seem to remember somewhere in the white paper, or maybe it was in an interview with Dan Larimer... he described Steem/Steemit as "an experiment."

Experiments seldom unfold in a straight line, and they certainly don't happen without their share of bumps, bruises, setbacks and breaks. Kinda like an adventurous 4-year old, if you think about it!

=^..^=

Yeah, we often referred to it as an experiment in the early days. It's a miracle we made it this far.

To each his own. I guess some will go one way, some will go the other, and some will stay on both. As to which is the right way, who is right, only time will tell. Cheers!

Cheers! Some day the coupling will be so loose no one will be mad about it anymore.

Best of luck. I'm disgusted with Steemit and their deciding who I can see, who I can vote for. Disgusted that if Justin gets his way, according to his own words when he came in declaring his dictatorship, that he will destroy Steem and convert everyone over to some Tron side shit. Who knows if anyone in the US will be able to do anything with it, the exchange he partially owns wont touch anyone here period. But enough on why I'm shaking the dust off for the most part. If you don't cross over, it was a pleasure encountering you here. I've enjoyed reading many of your posts. I'll still be dropping in from time to time to maybe vote until my powerdown is complete. I figure things will be more decided in those 9 weeks or so.

That's hilarious that you bought into that... Since we already were banning people from the SteemIt, Inc front end and what those people were told is their posts still show up on other front-ends and are in the blockchain. I love how people change the story to fit their view.

I am not a fan of Justin at all. But the smear campaign and lack of logic and consistency is part of the reason I have my doubts on how both projects will do.

Has SteemIt ever censored / hid posts that are just simply talking about other platforms before?

As far as I'm aware, SteemIt ( before the JSUN drama ) has only ever hid posts that are outright spam, plagiarism, and illegal content.

Well Ned downvoted all EOS content for a while, so while they weren't "blocked" it was basically the same thing.

Also those who were blocked from SteemIt.com (many of them) have hostile intentions. So, is justin supposed to ignore that, while they are literally trying to break his investment? I am not taking his side, just trying to view it from his point of view as well.

Ned downvoted all EOS content for a while [...] basically the same thing

I don't see this being at all similar. If you wanted to read the articles that Ned downvoted, you still were able to on SteemIt. What you're describing is just Ned using a feature of this platform. You're allowed to downvote as you see fit. I would've probably disagreed with his downvotes & think he's being highly immature for doing so, but this is no way comparable to actually hiding content.

Also those who were blocked from SteemIt.com (many of them) have hostile intentions. So, is justin supposed to ignore that

Literally yes. I don't care if Justin hates it, hurts his investment, or anything else. The entire point of having a decentralized platform like this is that dissenting opinions are allowed. Justin hid stuff he's afraid of, that makes me not trust SteemIt at all. It's as simple as that.

I understand looking at things from differing point of views, but the practice doesn't end there. When you see this whole situation from Jusitn's point, you realize he's an unstable man baby who can't think logically & operate calmly.

Hi there

I've been reading through many comments related to new hive chain and I've seen your comment too. Many users are being torn, however majority seem to be moving to new hive.

Are you fully moving there or will you stay on both chains? Just curious. I'm trying to figure out what to do myself.

I'm pretty much fully switching over to Hive. I prefer my chains to be decentralized & uncensored.

The only posts I may end up making on Steem are copy & pastes from Hive, but basically my main focus is Hive. I'm building for Hive, writing for Hive, and championing for Hive.

Hope to see you on there! :^)

Big Thx for your reply. I think i will stick around on both chains for time being.

I also figured that you may find this post interesting and worth your time:

It's post published by good friend of mine and I'm helping him to promote their curation trail.
