Right now, this early in the platform, there are certainly people with a lot of Steem Power than can push money to useless posts. The point I'm making is that over time this will be mitigated as real content creators will gain influence and more "natural" voting habits will emerge from the community, since people like them will become the Steem Power whales.

Great post @derekareith However, I feel like becoming one of these "authentic curators by default, without even thinking about it," requires catching a whale's eye to get the momentum and Steempower to gain that audience and motivate others to produce good material. I am trying my best to post original content but have received very mixed and lackluster results. I hope once the newness wears off and community members see how much I want this platform to succeed, balancing and policing itself sustainably. Here's to @missjessica and @heiditravels for paving the way!

Thanks for reaching out @hmfoucault! Keep trying to create and you'll do fine! The key thing I'm discovering with this platform is that you will only succeed if you really care about your work. Don't even think about the upvotes, the money, or the whales. If your content is good, someday it will pay. So keep it up! Also, I bookmarked your page on Jess's computer, she's away for a couple days with crap internet, but we'll keep you in the loop. It's key to network with like-minded people. I'll also be at work all day, but I'll be sure to check out your posts tonight when I get home. Take care!

I don't know man. Honestly, the post you linked to looks pretty spammy.

Did you even saw the post , its a screenshot of a steem post where it just say test3 in title and 2 in the body and it has more value than some of the better posts in new section of this site.

They have a ton of steem power because they bought it months ago. You can see this is the case by looking at how much they earned from posting.

Look at their activity. They are getting downvoted for the test posts, so if they keep doing it, their voting power will go down. They'll push less and earn less through curation. Other users will earn more and bypass them, particularly productive members of the site, if they try to keep spam posting.

Steem is like 20X more expensive now and the platform is just starting to take off, so who knows where it can go price wise. Point is, it's really expensive and a really long commitment at this point to just buy that much Steem Power. Therefore, this is a short term problem and productive users will take over in the long run.

I do consider her as an asset to the site there is no denying of this fact , my point was that useless posts should be voted down and biased voting should not be encouraged.

Sorry, I was resonding to @biophil... should have tagged him. And sorry if I'm defensive, I'm gonna need to up my restraint game and fast :)
