A couple days ago, I decided to host a small competition amongst my 300,000 followers - mostly newbies joining STEEM for the first time.

I gave them a quick storytelling lesson in a live video from my years of creating viral content and offered to feature a few of the best.

#3: @Eddieboo's and his gorgeous intro.

Checking out Eddieboo's intro actually made me really sad. He had a beautiful profile that he obviously took a lot of love and care to craft - but unfortunately it got zero traction. Like, zero comments!!

I think it's because of his title.

If it had been something closer to: "I am a meditating photoshop food guru. Here's my story." I think it would have been more successful.

#2 @jonathansipiel and his epic intro video.

Jonathan did a great job in his introduction doing a fantastic video that really showed his creativity and his quirkiness - putting his work up front and center, before diving into his personality. Overall, great narration - and he got the views too!

#1 @underwaterwoman 's poignant introduction

I had to give first place to Christine's introduction. From the title (I dance Underwater to raise awareness for ocean conservation) all the way to the layout and the storyline - her piece was an A+.

I suppose it also helped that she actually does have some genuinely epic work - but looking beyond that, her intro is really stellar.

In Conclusion:

There were some model introductions that I thought did a great job of presenting themselves and telling a compelling story.

I think one of the most striking analogies for me when thinking about how to tell a story is : Imagine you're on the bottom of a deep well, and a stranger walks by. First, you need them to notice you. Then, you need them to care enough about you to listen to what you have to say. Finally, you need to convince them to like you to help you out.
