How to earn a cryptocurrency called steem

Today I would like to introduce you to an amazing token called STEEM, that is backed by a fast growing social network called steemit.com. I know many of you are looking for a legit way to earn free crypto currency, so continue reading and I will show you how to get started, and explain how it works in a little more detail.

What is steemit.com?

Steemit is a free to join social network and content rewards platform that makes its members the beneficiaries of the steemit economy. It does this by rewarding users with STEEM.

Steemit has redefined social media by building a living, breathing, and growing social economy; a community where users are getting rewarded for sharing their voice and creating genuine content.

How do I earn digital tokens (STEEM) on Steemit?

Earn by Posting

By sharing your posts, you can earn up-votes from community members. Depending on the up-votes you receive, you will get a portion of the ongoing Steem reward pool.

Earn by Voting and Curating

If you discover a post and up-vote it before it becomes popular, you can earn a curation reward. The reward amount will depend on the amount of STEEM Power you have accumulated in your account.

Purchasing Steem

Users can purchase STEEM or Steem Dollar tokens directly through the Steemit wallet using bitcoin, Ether, or BitShares tokens. They are also available from other markets and exchanges including BlockTrades, Poloniex, Bittrex, Shapeshift.io, and Changelly. STEEM tokens that are powered up to STEEM Power earn a small amount of interest for holding.

Where do the STEEM tokens come from?

The Steem network continually creates digital tokens to reward content creators and curators. Some of the newly-created tokens are transferred to users who add value to Steemit by posting, commenting, and voting on other people's posts. The remainder is distributed to holders of STEEM Power and the witnesses that power the blockchain.

Your first step should be to bookmark this page! You will want to return after your account has been created. Go ahead and bookmark now before we continue....

To join steemit is 100% free. Simply Click on the "Sign Up" link at the top of Steemit.com, or the bottom of this post or CLICK HERE to get started.

You will be asked to verify your email address and phone number. After your email address and phone number have been verified, you will be added to the waiting list. Next you will be notified via email once your account is approved. Usually steemit accounts are verified within 24hr's or so.

Follow me!

Next you will want to follow my account @virtashare, you can do this by clicking on the profile link at the bottom of this post and hitting follow. From this point you will receive content updates from my account :-). The same procedure can be used in future when you decide to follow curators

Now your first up-vote

This is the fun part, you can reward a curator by simply giving a up-vote. This is 100% free to do and will not cost you anything. In turn when you create a post, fellow members of steemit will do the same and up-vote your content as-well.

To give this a try simply hit the up-vote icon and cast your vote. Your share of the reward pool will be included and the post reward pool will grow accordingly, rewarding the curator for there post and content.

Great by now you have a basic idea of how steemit works, your next step will be to make your first post. This should be fun and exciting, so let's get started and I will show you how to introduce yourself!

Making your first post..

Once your account has been setup and you have followed the above steps you should have a basic idea of how steemit works, now you want to create your first post and introduce yourself to the community. This has become a very popular practice among the steemit community and is also a great way to break the ice, creating your first post.

To get started simply click on "Create Post" at the top right of the page...

From this point things are quite self explanatory, simply put in your title, something like " Hello I would like to introduce myself " for example. Next you will write a little info about yourself and possibly a few pics. Next and most importantly I would recommend using the #introduceyourself tag in the bottom Tag field.

Next all you need to do is hit post and you will become immortalized in the steemit blockchain forever!

As you can see creating a post on steemit is quick and easy. You will find steemit to be a fun community and after your first post you will make friends and fit right in! If for some reason you hit a blank or want to test the water's, try post a funny pic to break the ice. You can share anything on steemit as long as you give credit to the author or source of a image.
