RE: Where Is Everyone? Like For real? 👻

in #steemlast month (edited)

I think what happened is, even tho I don’t follow hive at all, when they split from steemit crypto was pretty low and a lot of ppl had already quit blogging, lost the excitement in it. I went to a lot of crypto meet-ups around that time and I have some friends quite high up in blockchain projects and none of them knew hive existed or steemit ever split. I certainly didn’t correct them as I can’t stand hive. So when the market went back up a bit some went to steemit, invested back into steemit but had no time to blog and , a lot never went back or regained an interest in blockchain social. The market now is so diluted with a lot not even knowing hive exists, most don’t know blurt exists and steemit just doesn’t look as good to them or as interesting as before so they probably haven’t gone back to it. New ppl who haven’t already joined, don’t seem interested in crypto sites. I have a Facebook with 6 k followers of alternative thinkers/ creatives and 2 YouTube channels with 5k between them but I gave up on trying to get people to join tbh they just don’t seem to want to join crypto sites or see the value unless they are already into crypto and those ppl have already signed up. That’s my take.

It is interesting for sure and between DTube, Steem, Blurt, and HIVE the community got fractured up so much that it lost it's momentum. Justin Sunn didn't seem to keep pushing Steemit because before there were ads for the Tron ecosystem stuff and also we were earning Tron in our accounts which was nice. Then it was kind of like they went away from pushing all that. The DAO isn't being used here for the most part and there are millions in it that could be used to market and pay developers.
Then it isn't being marketed and word of mouth isn't enough to get that magic back for the most part.
The Arena has captured a bit of the magic we saw on Steemit in 2017 / 2018. Their stages and the ability to tip in them is fun and an X factor but they are going to have to move fast otherwise it won't get to Steem levels. There were over a million wallets here and HIVE ultimately ended up a 2.5 Million wallets. Steemit had mainstream escape velocity in 2017 but fumbled. It's sad but there is a big lesson there.

I entirely blame the ppl who went over and begun hive: I’ve said a few times now I was invited to a private chat room with some of the leaders of ocd and they were disgusting. They actively laughed at newbies and for fun decided how to take them to rep 0 and run them off the platform
Then in public would pretend to be all nicey nice. I blame them entirely they ran so many good creatives off the platform with their pathetic downvoting and control. Had they not been so childish it would prob be huge by now. I don’t know Justin sun but knowing them I can imagine why he had to go hard at them. I’m sure they tried to pull their tricks on him too but he is way above them so they couldn’t. I wish I kept my tron for sure!

Their behaviour was so counter productive I actually have thought for a while it was nothing mot than a government Experiment to see how ppl would take to extreme control on social media. Interestingly the chat group used to be run by an account called illuminaughty or something similar. Something was wildly off with it.

I felt like it was an unnecessary power struggle and I hear what you are saying about them running people off the platform. It's sort of a catch 22 because the whole thing was to be a crypto social media platform but then they get mad if they don't like the amount of posts someone is putting up and I always say they clinch up with the money. The Proposal system could really be a huge Win but they actually don't fully utilize the system. For a long time it has been this select grouping of witnesses that would rather just sit there and get a good drip and not build HIVE but just stay in position and get the funds dumped on them.

I try to not get in the drama with it but I was even on X and a Hive Keychain account posted that they would repost people's stuff who are on HIVE. Well I liked the post and said I was on HIVE and then they basically proceeded to get in an argument with me because I had a Steemit.com link in my profile. I basically said I was on everything and Steemit has actually paid out more in the past 6 months than HIVE and it is the original chain. But again it was a needless argument.

YOu are right about Justin Sun and I had said it back while it was happening. Justin had more money and they tried to make a big problem before anything had actually changed and once they tried to fork and essentially nullify his stake on the new chain it was a war and then the HIVE crew was trying to cry foul and act like they were the victims or something. It was ridiculous. We would have been better off being on the same chain instead of fracturing up the community.
That being said I have never left and have never been full blown downvoted to 0 continually like we have seen with some people so i keep the flow.

If it wasn't for the way they act I'm certain HIVE would be on the first page of CoinGecko and all that..

I’ve still not fully understood the arena and can’t quite work it out

Well the main thing right now is I wouldn't worry too much about buying people's tickets for the first few days but if you just get on the "Stages" and then look for an open one and click in there and you will be sitting there listening to people talk and tips will get rained down on you for just chilling there. Then you can request to speak if you want and a lot of times the speakers get even more tips. Like any of these platforms it's primarily men and they have went somewhat heavy on getting women up on Stage to talk. There are a lot of bots and some of us have estimated there might only be 5,000 people really active on there. It's hard saying.
With the ticket holders I'm going to drive value to people buying up my tickets on there by while listing them for my NFT collection coming out in January.
They are going to give additional guidance on exactly how the Arena token will tie in. Only 10% of the supply is circulating right now and it seems like they are going to do tons of airdrops for engagement. But all that being said I have been tipped various memes and also the Arena token.
It's a pretty interesting group of people on there. Like a bunch of NFT type people from New York City but also people from all over the world. A bunch of Canadians and a bunch of people from India and Bangladesh.
