Bay of Bengal

The Bay of Bengal is the largest bay in the world.This triangular sea is located north of the Indian Ocean. It is bordered by India and Sri Lanka to the west, India and Bangladesh to the north, and Myanmar and Thailand to the east.

It covers an area of 2,172,000 square kilometers (639,000 square miles). Many of its tributaries, including the Ganges and the Brahmaputra, merge into the Bay of Bengal. The famous ports on its shores are Chittagong, Mongla, Chennai, Kolkata, Visakhapatnam, Yangon. Cox's Bazar, the longest beach in the world, is located on the shores of this bay. Famous tourist destinations on the shores of the Gulf are Cox's Bazar, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Visakhapatnam, Sundarbans, Digha, Chittagong, Puri etc.

The biodiversity of the Bay of Bengal is remarkable. There are different types of plants including whales, tuna, sharks, dolphins, turtles, sea crocodiles etc. There are various valuable minerals under the water of this bay. Various substances including amethyst, beryl, ruby, topaz, sapphire and garnet. A gas field has recently been discovered in the bay. Which is very conducive to economic prosperity.
