I need to make this clear now!
If you think it is smart to promote a specific witness in all of your posts, let me now tell you that it is not! Authors who add a promo link in all of their posts for one specific witness will not receive my vote at all or will receive just a small vote from now on. Interestingly, it is always the same witness that "needs to be" promoted. Authors are being told to vote for that one witness by community moderators and they think their rewards will grow through this. No, it wont't. The opposite is true actually.
Anyway, I just needed to get this out, because it bugs me big time!
I was once asked/felt like forced to vote for a witness and that was one of the few times I felt very uncomfortable on this blockchain, I hope it never happens again. I think it is very important to raise such questions (the subject of your post) to avoid such situations.
Thanks for such clarification, I once asked same question on why we only promote one or two witnesses but no tangible answer was given to me. But this is indeed very important for all.
This is very important information for all Steemians and it is difficult for most people to express because they are afraid of losing support but today the truth has been seen with the blessing of @steemchiller voice and we only understand it at this time and I see many good writers who do not get support, hopefully with this notice Steemit will be better and wiser in the future

You have said it all.
I saw most of my african users promote specific witness and when I asked them why, they gave me no tangible response and this is misleading because even newbies now thinks it is a criteria to succeed on steemit.
Witness vote should be by choice not by force and it shouldn't be monopolized too.

While curating, I see this daily in lots of different places. I think the overall focus should be on teaching these communities to vote, period. Some may have issues knowing how to vote for all 30; in that case, those communities/individuals should tell their followers to use the proxy option and then give that person's name in the process. Helping one witness singly doesn't help the entire ecosystem.

I strongly agree with you that it is not a good thing while promoting just one witness in the moderation comments and in the posts. I have never done it to place the link of the witness in my post.
But it is necessary to reach all the steemians how they can vote for the witnesses and why they should do it. I have noticed many people do not know who are the witnesses and what they do and why they should vote for them.
For this purpose there should be a proper tutorial explaining it what are the witnesses and how they contribute to the ecosystem and how the users can vote the witnesses.
In some contests and communities I have seen there is the requirement to vote for the witnesses to participate in the contest. It is a one kind of forcing the users to vote a specific witness.
As soon as I get time I will write about it to shed light on the witnesses and witness votes.

Yes you are right the mods think that they will get better reward while mentioning the same witness each time in their posts and in the moderation comments. I am not sure why some people are doing it constantly even the high personalities with great experience and reputation. I welcome your decision and I am sure it will be changed and people just guide the steemians and they will be able to cast their witness votes according to their choice and to improve the development of the platform.
