What if the trending posts were sorted by number of votes instead of $?
I was just reading this post:
https://steemit.com/steemit/@chitty/if-you-have-the-votes-that-is-all-that-matters
And it got me thinking: What if the trending posts were actually sorted by the number of votes instead by the number of influencers?
This would allow great content to be decided by the masses instead of the few. If the masses decide a post is good then it will raise to the top and subsequently attracted more influencers. This would also allow brand new users to potentially have more visibility instead of making $0.00, being disillusioned about the platform, and not interested in investing.
As someone commented on the linked post
The 80% of the members only have 0.17% voting power here
This might be a good solution to this problem. Thoughts?

steemit has a big problem.
not that my voice is ACTUALLY heard, but the part that content has a limited lifetime kills maximum quality, which can only be achieved by editing and editing a post into perfection - it also kills evergreen "an apple a day" posts that need to be read multiple times over longer periods of time by the same person... The internet is littered with infinite information already.
What people want is time to LIVE life and enjoy it.
Breakthrough thought: people also likely want to read about others enjoying life, and not on being "Schooled" style of blogs
Steemit cannot fulfill ALL these desires, only maybe the top 8 most popular tags will become main topics here. And steemit has no value in permanent posts. Im creating a digital democracy that does, however I plan on still using steemit to upvote / downvote our community decisions. It will be a great tool - get paid to vote on ideas. LOL!
