"Suspicious Minds" is a song written by American songwriter Mark James and first recorded by him in 1968. However, Mark James' version did not gain much attention and was not a commercial success. Mark James did not let such a wonderful work disappear, "Suspicious Minds" was also recorded by Elvis Presley and released in 1969. It was produced by Chips Moman. Elvis Presley's magnificent performance revealed the power of the song and made it reach many music lovers around the world.

Elvis Presley - Suspicious Minds

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
We're caught in a trap, I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Why can't you see what you're doin' to me
When you don't believe a word I say?

[Chorus]
We can't go on together
With suspicious minds (With suspicious minds)
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds

[Verse 2]
So if an old friend I know stops by to say hello
Would I still see suspicion in your eyes?
Here we go again, asking where I've been
You can't see the tears are real, I'm cryin' (Yes, I'm cryin')

[Chorus]
We can't go on together
With suspicious minds (With suspicious minds)
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds

[Bridge]
Oh, let our love survive
I'll dry the tears from your eyes
Let's don't let a good thing die
When, honey, you know I've never lied to you
Mmm, yeah, yeah

[Verse 1]
We're caught in a trap, I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Why can't you see what you're doin' to me
When you don't believe a word I say?

[Outro]
Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap? I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap? I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap? I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap? I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap? I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby
Well, don't you know I'm caught in a trap? I can't walk out
Because I love you too much, baby

Interview video from "Suspicious Minds" songwriter Mark James about Secrets of Elvis' "Suspicious Minds".

Elvis Presley - Suspicious Minds (Live performance)

“Suspicious Minds” centers around the desire to repair the damage and “let our love survive” in order to continue a mistrusting and dysfunctional relationship. It was inspired by an actual love triangle. Additionally, "Suspicious Minds", made famous by Elvis Presley, has also been recorded by artists such as Dwight Yoakam, Jessi Colter and Waylon Jennings. More than half a century after its release, "Suspicious Minds" remains one of Elvis Presley's most famous hits.

The "King of Rock and Roll" Elvis Presley is one of the greatest artists of all time, forever changing the landscape of music by being one of the first-ever rock stars, and his amzing performance and unique voice brought to life many songs such as "Suspicious Minds". I love listening to almost all the songs of Elvis Presley and "Suspicious Minds" is one of them, undoubtedly his masterpiece.

Also, if you want to listen, here's Mark James' version

Mark James - Suspicious Minds

I think Mark James sings it well too, but of course not as well as Elvis Presley, and I don't think anyone could sing it as well as Elvis Presley.

Enjoy the music and stay with Love
