Help! I’ve fallen down the Steemit vortex and I can’t get out!

in #steem8 years ago (edited)

Its official: I have taken the red pill.

It all started on a normal Thursday afternoon. My brother, @anthonyc, called me up and said, “Hey, have you heard of Steemit.com? You earn crypto-currency by writing and blogging.”

My life has never been the same.
Instead of waking up and reading the news, I log into Steem and look at my posts.
Instead of Facebooking on my lunch break I am browsing the Trending and Hot section.
Instead of watching the telly when I get home, I am working on my next post.

I’ve got the Steem bug, and it ain’t going anywhere!

It really all started a few years back when I discovered Bitcoin. My brother and I obsessed about Bitcoin but didn’t make the right moves so we missed out on a huge opportunity to make hand-over-fist crypto-cash. It’s because we didn’t fully believe in the crypto-currency system.

My bro played around with other coins back then, like Litecoin, but nothing really pandered out.
Then came Steem: the decentralized monetizing social media site based on crypto-cash. At first I was skeptical, but once I figured out the inner workings, I was hooked.

It gives me everything I want: the social media aspect, the creation of content, the mining of crypto, the earning of MONEY…. It is like my nerdy dream come true!

But a dark side comes with it…. I could see going over the precipice with outright Steem obsession, or Steemsession, as I like to call it.

Steem calls for the Author and Curator to be sound-minded, persistent, and even-balanced to succeed at Steem without losing your mind! Ya know what I mean? I know you do.

Steem has been usurping my usual technology habits, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I suppose it’s better than dwelling on the elections, or the imminent collapse of the global financial system, or Black Lives Matter, or Jihad. Lol.

The point of this story is that Pandora’s Box has been opened, and there is no closing it as far as the eye can see.
I really feel like setting healthy Steem habits are important, but that is for another post.

What image site do you use to allow you to embed a short video clip? Im not very tech savy, so i have been using imgur.com to post my pics, but id love to start including short video clips also..

It is a GIF, actually. A collection of images that are streamed to create movement. I like to use ezgif.com free and easy to use.

It's indeed addictive and depending character traits of the individual involved, I guess it could turn into an ...obsession.

Take the white pill: Chilllaaaaax. Steemit will be here tomorrow too. Take a break.

Heh, yeah. I just think I'm excited, hasn't even been a week.

I started a week ago and I'm in exactly the same state of mind. It really might become an obsession. I can see writing for a few weeks without a big payout might slow a user down but then a post will tend and it will start all over.

I followed you because awesome steemitvortex.gif.

Hi! This post has a Flesch-Kincaid grade level of 6.0 and reading ease of 77%. This puts the writing level on par with Jane Austen and JK Rowling.
