No one should have to go to a Discord to appeal such sloppy, lazy and possibly cowardly downvoting and slander.

100% THIS.

Guilty until proven innocent.

has your friend visited the Steemcleaners discord and appealed their blacklisting him? That would likely clear it up ... putting a note on his blog that he's posting on Steem as ... would help to verify that he does in fact own both accounts

I doubt he has. I don't know him on a personal level. I came across him years ago on YouTube, as he had a large following even then. I'm guessing Steem (at this point) is not high on his to do list, as he probably added it as a possible additional revenue stream to his already existing ones. Based on his results here so far, I would further surmise he would not have anything positive to say about it being a model for influencers to add to their already existing models.

As to putting a note on his blog, as I said above, I doubt at this point he would want to promote Steem(it). The fact that he is posting from his official website using SteemPress would seem proof enough to me, as that would prove it is coming from his official site (verifiable via SteemWorld per the link I posted in the post).

One should not have to go to another venue (Discord) to appeal sloppy targeting. Steemcleaner is the one who initiated this dynamic, and the burden should rest upon their shoulders to make some effort to verify the truth of their claims (slander in this case) before they initiate such action. They are acting holier than thou against people who actually matter to large groups of people. Because of this, they win my idiot of the week award.

well I've been around the platform long enough to have seen that in the big picture steemcleaners does more good than harm. There are some hardworking dedicated volunteers there who are more than willing to meet reasonable people halfway.

While it seems frustrating to go to discord to resolve a problem, it is the most direct way to deal with the problem.

It is rather odd since he's using Steempress that there is an issue at all but some things do fall through the cracks at times.

Many, like myself, refuse to join another social site in order to operate on this one. It seems odd to have to do that. I know for myself, given all I have read of Discord, will never have an account with them. Seems to me that if someone is going to appoint themselves police of Steemit, they should make themselves available on the platform they are acting as judge and jury on and not a different one.

joining another site to supplement use of a site isn't that uncommon. I also write on Medium. Over there they use Facebook groups to communicate beyond the comments on posts.

There is a lot of Steem activity taking place on Discord that makes the difference for many new Steemians between growing on Steem or leaving. Your choice if you go there or not.

As for Steemcleaners being available on Steem... cute trick... find the right post to leave a comment on and maybe we can respond. Even when they first started up they used steem.chat to communicate. A discord server makes their ability to work with people a lot more organized.

I'm guessing that the dynamic will remain as it is, and many like Tommy will be less than impressed and either choose not to pursue, choose to leave or worse, give their honest opinion on how backwards things are here.

As for it not being uncommon, there are many like myself (and more joining weekly) who refuse to use Fakebook. If I (and others) wanted to do this on Fakebook or Discord, we would simply post there.

just note that (i think) @steemcleaner isn't the same as @steemcleaners

In researching them to see if there was someone I could reach out to here on Steemit (since they ignore their comment section) I see much of their SP is a delegation from @steemcleaners.

Ok, I didn’t get so far. Good catch!

Dude, I am not sure about all his stuff, there may actually be stuff of his own I don't know and don't care to put the time into checking it out but I do know that his last post is definitely copied and pasted directly from the Daily Mail...word for word then seems to appear to be claimed written by him on his steem press. That's the very definition of plagiarizing content. Despite the fact he links to the Daily Mail website he does not link to the specific article written, his link opens only to their website which will only bring up current news output and you would have to search for the article on the site to find it. I see this quite often sometimes when people post stuff on other blogs, most primarily being copy and paste blogs which most require the link, I think they forget to add it then can't find the article again so they just link up to the website. Other times it can be a red herring as some bloggers will chose to leave out pertinent information out of their posted articles to serve an agenda of some sorts. As a blogger you see it all, that's why it's important before commenting to always read the full article.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7793717/California-probation-officer-kills-two-children-five-hour-police-standoff.html

It wasn't hard to find if this was his own original article or one written by a news source but what rose my suspicion is that at the end of one of the paragraphs it indicated an advertisement was once there so I googled for the headline and since he linked up to the daily mail I looked for an article written by the daily mail and bingo there it was.

So let me assume he does mix it up a bit and uses original content at times but copies and paste at others....you really can't expect steemcleaners to take the time every time he post to check out each and every one....there are a lot of people on here, think of people that would be needed if they had a list of people they had to continually babysit to see if their content is their own.

In this particular case I find he's guilty as charged, sorry.

He posts the story so his 1-2 hour video (which is his original content from his daily show) has a context for his followers. He isn't presenting the stories he is sharing as his own, and usually he is dissecting/disagreeing with the slant of the article he is dissecting. Maybe try watching one of his videos that is on every single post.

If you watch his show, you will see he references the article in question. He also often will link to the article, but not always as his referencing (often ridiculing) the story in his actual video keeps it from being plagiarized content. The fact is many of the articles he is sharing, he would NOT want his audience thinking they were his thoughts. Hence, the videos he makes to clarify HIS thoughts on the matter.

Given his net worth (and capacity to earn from his loyal follower base) if he was stealing others content and passing it off as his own, he would be sued successfully by many people (given he does several shows a day) and not be worth millions.

Excuse me that instead of his video presenting him in his studio or some other logo that would indicate it wasn't part of the news report....as that's what I thought it was with the picture of the house on it. That's the standard fair when you see a video posted with the article, especially if that video appears with something to do with the article on it. It really doesn't matter as in the manner he has set it up makes it appear as his original content, especially when he doesn't link to the article specifically just the website the article came from.

I know what you are trying to say and it makes a whole lot of sense since what's in the news is generally the subject matter of his talk show but he has to make some changes to his format that specifically puts the focus on the fact that the article is drawn out from local daily news events which will be the basis and relevant to my show today then put the actual link up. I don't know if that will help as he displays the whole article and that is often fawned upon here. People who do news blog stories are often left alone if they only put in exerts from the article while writing about the article also...in this case it's a bit different because he doesn't write about it he does a video on it. It really isn't going to help him much here if he doesn't understand or wants to change his format style to distinguish the difference. The fact he isn't being sued doesn't mean a thing, I can copy and paste all day long on many blogs...each blog has different rules, some allow you to post the whole article, others just segments of the article or in the case here exerts in between written content. In the end it's his choice. He really should though be the one up front and center on his own videos.
