The Steem News @ 16 April 2021 - More Country Reps & A Brand New Editor
Steemit Inc are recruiting more Country Representatives.
And Steemit.com has got a brand new editor.
Today's Steem News also includes news and updates about checking your Authorities, Promo-Steem logo usage, Steem Advertising, Steem for SDGs, some Guides & How To's and many more contests...
1. More Country Representatives Wanted
Steemit Inc has announced that it is looking to recruit more Country Representatives.
They are inviting applications from people both in countries where there are already Reps and in those countries that currently have none.
Applicants need to have been active on Steem for 3 months or more and have at least 500 SP.
Successful applicants will receive a delegation of 5000 SP as a Country Rep.
If you are interested you should get your application in by 30 April...
There are around 35 Country Representatives around the world at present.
This appears to be the latest list...
2. New Steemit.com Editor
A new editor appeared today on Steemit.com. It had not previously been announced on @steemitblog but appears to have been rolled out over past 12 hours or so.
Reactions from the community so far appear to be largely favourable although there are some issues on mobile phones, and with the more advanced html features that could be used on the old editor.
Top witness @justyy, @dmitrik and @randulakoralage are among those who have given their first impressions and observations...
Country Reps @njaywan and @focusnow have been posting some guides on how to use the new editor...
@rishabh99946 and @focusnow have both posted advice on how to get round the problems of using the editor on smartphones...
There does not appear to be an option to switch back to use the 'classic editor' in case of difficulties but @starlord28 has found a workaround...
And by extrapolation there are always options...
3. Security Alert - Check Your Authorities
The hacking of accounts to send funds to 'molly2' and then 'robertl13' that began about a week ago has continued.
This current round of hacking does not appear to be connected with the usual 'phishing attacks' and so the finger of suspicion is turning towards account authorities (Auth's) given to old / untended apps in the past that have now somehow been compromised.
It is very important for your account security to revoke any posting or active authorities to any apps that are not currently required.
A good way to check what Auth's are set on your account is by visiting...

An easy way to revoke Auth's is in @steemchiller's Steemworld.org.
@cryptokannon and @xpilar give more details...
Steemchiller gave details on managing Account Authorities through Steemworld in a post last year...
4. Promo-Steem Logo Usage
With the current boom in Promo-Steem activities around there had been some confusion about the use of the Steemit and the Steem logos on T-shirts and other promotional items.
Promo-Steem sponsor @stephenkendal has now published clarification on the logo use from the Steemit team...
There will be a fuller update on Promo-Steem activities in tomorrow's Steem News.
5. Steem Advertising on Social Media
Following @remlaps and @arie.steem's initial ventures into paid advertising of Steem on Facebook, the idea of advertising on social media is taking off.
@damithudaya is looking to run an advertising campaign on Facebook to attract new recruits for Steem Sri Lanka..
While @naufal in Indonesia has been trying Instagram...
6. Steem for SDGs
@ponpase has posted an update on the significant developments that have been happening with his project to connect Steem with campaigns promoting the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)...
Hopefully @ponpase can connect with @fjjrg and other members of the Steem Scout Community...
7. Guides & How To's
Ukraine Country Rep @antorv has written a useful post on what to write about on Steem...
Argentina Country Rep @belenguerra addresses the important question 'Is it Plagiarism?'...
@vipnata also covers this topic...
Venezuela Country Rep @albenis shows how to sell your SBD on the internal market for STEEM to power up and grow your account...
8. Contests, Contests, Contests...
As an offshoot of Steem News @pennsif now publishes a daily listing of the 'soon to close' contests on Steem...
@habercitr who runs the Steemit Contest Club Community has produced a compilation of current contests on Steem...

@pennsif How we do Steem Advertising on Social Media? If you share some of your expert words with us and plz if possible share some tricks to regard this in reply.
On Facebook, the only way I know to do it is to set up a Facebook page and use PayPal to pay for it. Once the Facebook page has been created, running an ad is very easy. The minimum cost is $1 per day.
I have not run advertising on other platforms, but I am aware that Twitter has an option to promote a Tweet.
Best to make contact with @remlaps and @arie.steem who have been doing advertising on Facebook.
@pennsif thank You for guidence
