Got my RCs sorted!

Now how about that Mana build up?

For a better Steem experience

That the transition from HF19 into HF20 could be a rough ride had been announced up front. And just like predicted it would start to kick in after about 24 hours. Just like the voting system change before it can take about 7 days in total to stabilize. Therefore I stayed chill when these errors came up as I tried to upvote and so on. Sometimes change can hurt, yet lead to something better. And I truly belief HardFork 20 'Velocity' is a clever developement. It was needed badly to keep Steem future ready.

RC, or Resource Credits (not Remote Control, I know) make it harder to SPAM the Steem blockchain. Credits will be used according to the level of strain an operation puts on the system. And it will rebuild itself over a period of 5 days. Just sending transactions, upvoting and writing replies will cost RCs. And that Mana loss will take time to recover.

Those that want to rigg the system, one way or another, really will need to put in a lot of their own skin. No more loads and loads of yer 'good post', 'nice photo dear', 'upvote me, even though I did not upvote you', replies just cost too much to get wasted like that. Also 'bot' services will have to rethink their system. Some might have to throw the towel in the ring. But that will become more clear around the third of october 2018.

Better quality?

When I try to speculate about where this change could lead to then I would state a better overal Steem experience. Less SPAM, less bots, better valued quality posts and more quality posts. As every post and interaction with the Steem blockchain has its RC cost it is worth thinking about what is worth doing.

Reputation will be harder to build, take probably more time to do so. Things will slow down in a sense, less of a post and reply flood, filling up the Steem blockchain. It can feel a bit of getting used too. As one really has to think things through. Keeping replies to a minimum can be tough, I can imagine. And when to put more of ones own skin in the game, to be able to get a higher RC value, to be able to interact more with the Steem blockchain.

This sure is going to change things. The rules of the Steem blockchain game have changed quite drasticly. And I think it is a fair way to put a price on every operation in relation to the strain it puts on the system. Therefore I think the Steem team made a clever move and did a great job. To me this is already one of the best HardForks so far. Only to be beaten by HF21 'Graduate'.

Long live the Steem blockchain!

Just to bad 2 upvotes costed me 28% VP atm, lol...

It will take a while before it levels out, I guess. 😉

It's a great update in theory but in my honest opinion I feel it may discourage newbie growth which in honesty growth is what steem needs to bring to the table.

For me there is a difference to growth in mainly massive amounts of new accounts and slow steady grow with new accounts adding real value to the Steem blockchain.

At some point I think quality is going to matter more than quantity. New users, or those with a low reputation and or low amount of Steem Power, will be able to make a difference too.

If not, than the purpose of this hardfork would prove itself to be useless for new, low reputation and/or low Steem Power accounts.

And if this is true then I will get back on this subject. But one thing is clear to me, in all of these projects, the more of ones own skin ones puts in, the more gain will come out.

That is basicly the competition that will still rule the Steem game. HF20 will not change this, nor do I think any future HardFork will.

In that sense will those who arrives first be the ones best served, getting a headstart.

Smart Media Tokens {SMT} will be like a fresh start, in some way. New accounts will get a better chance then.

But no matter what, new accounts will still have a tougher task to get noted and rewarded than those who were here from the start.

I'm with you on that spamming resource consuming behaviour. I see the resource credits as a great way to hamper those who put nothing in but expect to get everything out. As long as new users have enough to conduct basic operations it will just require a little judicious thinking on meritous use of those credits.

It's like when they changed the voting algorithm to allow for more powerful upvotes, we all had to adjust.

Hark at me with my serious comment! :0D

Okay, who hacked into the @meesterboom account! Or worse, the borg collective must have assimilated him! That man never was serious! There must be some evil doing here!😰

Joking aside though...

It will indeed take some getting used to and in a reality where many things go like in a jiffy, be patient for 7 days might seem like eons to some.

Rigging the Steem blockchain system will be harder. Putting up payed 'resteem' schemes and so on will become more expensive. And so on. They will drop drasticly in amounts spamming the blockchain.

Leaving more attention room for those who produce stuff that is worth reading, hearing, watching and or viewing. This also accounts for new members.

Less crap, more quality, good for all as it also adds to the value of Steem on the market.

Just to make sure it is really you...
JLP stands for?

Agreed! And...

Jean Luc!

There is only one!!

It's it true they are bringing him back, I am sure I read it somewhere?

Oh and sorry for the lack of voting, that mana has to regenerate somehow!!

Yes! You are the one and only real @meesterboom! 👌😎

True JLP will return in a new Enterprise series. No clue to how when what or where though. Looking forward to his Star Trek return.

And it is okay mate, that mana will take its time to regain its strength and get in balance. 👍😉

Was watching the hot page just now, fun to see relatively low potential payouts rock for a while.

Next week weekend it will be different I guess.

I have been looking at hot too, its nice to see it look different compared to bidbot central add it will undoubtedly return to!!

I'm looking forward to good return too. Nobody was ever quite like JLP!
