RE: Is Steemit a scam?

in #steem6 years ago

I had a heated discussion today about whether or not Steemit is a scam. I honestly believe in the platform, whereas there are others who swear up and down that Bitcoin, and cryptos such as Steem are a part of the beast system, crafted by the devil himself. I have pretty much heard it all, but I still continue to promote the site daily.

I am currently holding on to the little bit of Steem Power I have, and made a conscious decision to post regularly and often. I actually find greater value in the information shared here rather than at Facebook, although the people whom I would love to see here are still glued to Facebook with its blatant disregard to user's privacy and data retention.

Facebook seems to be on a downward spiral, regardless of how many changes they make to their social media networking site. What I want to read is here, I'm not too much interested in what I see in my news feed so I will read this material and share it on Facebook and Twitter so that others who may take a look at the posts become curious and join. If they do, great - I would certainly love to see more people aboard and I think it's a great way to get started in cryptocurrency and great for content creators to be rewarded.

I always wanted to write for a living, and in an odd way this is kind of accomplishing that dream for me. I may not be making enough to life on alone by writing, but it's more than enough of an incentive for me to continue on writing whereas I gain nothing from time spent on the "mainstream" social media websites.
