SMTs are Coming Are You Kidding Me

in #steem5 years ago

I actually got a response to my comment while I was recording this:

And it made me realize that the reason this is hitting such a wrong note is that stinc blew all of their goodwill with HF20.

I simply don't trust this pending HF to go well. And sitting without being able to use STEEM for 2 weeks is just not acceptable.

Ah yes... blowing goodwill with stinc. Those were good times...

Sometimes I really enjoy your sock puppets

Yeah pretty sure I missed the memo about how HF 21 was pushed. Because if it was accepted I for sure want to know!

Just remember that we give no fucks and your opinion doesn't matter!

One day Steemit incompetence decentralization is really going to shine. Stinc will either no longer have the stake to dictate what goes on here or a superior team will fork the platform and take the majority of the community with them.

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Right now the only thing keeping stinc in charge is that they are gatekeeping the github project. As long as that is in their hands, they will dictate what can and can't happen on STEEM.

If they simply got out of the way and let the witnesses function as 21 independent arbiters of what should be acceptable in the code we would take our foot off the brake.

I tried having multiple discussions about this hardfork and I've decided it's a hail mary. This is either going to go really well or it will be the nail in the coffin if it gets fucked up. One thing is clear, we don't have any true consensus and a bunch of absentee stake and a company that has proven itself to be failing over and over again are going to railroad this hardfork through despite what anyone says about it.

The worst part is that I agree with EIP and SPS. I don't even mind the funding vehicle. What I feel like is going to happen in practice is much different than what I think most people are worried about though. 10% of the reward pool is just basically going to be dedicated to whatever projects the most popular witnesses and whales want to direct it at and I doubt it'll be anything we actually want or think the blockchain needs.

But as always, feel free to remove your witness votes (lol), but also feel free to remove any illusions you have that the votes matter.

Really reminds me of government and what is wrong with it lol

How odd, it's almost like humans don't really want to do anything different or better, they just want to tip the scales in their own favor.

100% proposals will be decided by the whales.

I made a joke in the discord the other day about how we need a bicameral legislature for STEEM. But I actually think there is something to be said for the idea to have a mixed approval between stake weight and popularity.

Of course, in meatspace it's harder to quickly add voting bodies. Not impossible, just harder.
