In the past 24-48 hours, reddit has begun a wave of mass bannings for subreddits pertaining to their new rules. Direct qoute in screenshot below

While this does make alot of sense with the issues that Reddit does have for example the black market subbreddit, it also took out many innocent or otherwise friendly subs such as

r/cigars( subreddit for talking about cigars with some trading)
r/gundeals( subreddit that post deals from gun selling sites, kind of like Slickdeals.net)
r/scotchswap( literally is in the title)
r/beerswap(also in title)
r/beermarket( buy and sell beer with some local meetups)

With many more. While I can understand the reasoning beerswap and scotchswap, there was no reason for cigars and gundeals to be banned. This is inexcusable, and should be reversed. Reddit is slowly moving away from the right of free speech many have feared. I use Reddit as a source of news and info, along with direct conversations with other users. This will hurt them in the long run.

As you expect, many aren't taking this very well. From mini revolts, to talking about alternatives. They even brought up gasp the block chain!(Steemit!) as a new location. Could this be the revival of steemit that community badly needs? As we know, the one big advantage of the block chain is once it's posted, its there to stay. And with decentralization, we would never face the risk of our posts being banned or removed. Sure , we will face challenges along the way, but I have faith we can make this something better than what Reddit ever was. Make Steemit great again!
