So I've been thinking

Steemit almost feels too good to be true. I mean people with creative content are making a good chunk of money on the first day of posting something. At the same time so are random, meaningless spam posts. Take for example a post copied from another article that made a few thousand the first day or another post which simply had a gif as the article.

Not Really An Issue...

I think this is normal considering Steemit is still fairly new, with a small user base as of now. And to be honest, heck, sometimes a long well articulated article is not as interesting as a funny gif or meme.

Unlike Youtube where a Youtuber might have a million subscribers, Steemit bloggers - What do we call those guys anyway? Steemers? - might have as many users as there are curators or Steemers. We're at a point now where every minute there a few dozen new posts, and there are only a few thousand Steemers!

Just Imagine..

Imagine what it might be like once we reach parity with Youtube. Everyone will be posting any and every thing in hopes of something sticking. What is to keep someone from continuously plagiarizing articles?

What if..

Just as we reward creative content, can we punish non-creative or plagiarized content? Possibly deducting Steem points from user's account for plagiarized or spammy content? Or is that just mean?
