Nine ideas for Steem--What would you add?
I'm on vacation, so I have sometime to think about these things. I've only been on here a couple of days, but here are some ideas for Steem and those that work on it behind the scenes.
I am well aware that Steem in beta, so I realize these maybe in the process behind the scenes, but these are just some ideas for the powers that be.
- An FAQ on the side bar. Let's face it. A lot of us, meaning me, are new to cryptocurrencies. I've heard of Bitcoin. But I've also heard heard of Republic Credits (from Star Wars) and they mean about the same to me. And yes, there is the white paper, but still, break that down to a FAQ.
- A discussion group or forum on the site to answer questions. I know that there is a Slack channel, but I would prefer to not have to leave the site in order discuss, ask, or answer questions.
- A formal step by step guide of transferring Steem to local currency. Again list it on the side or at the top. And use pictures. I need pictures.
- A specific stream of the people you follow. I have followed several people. I am not sure how to see their posts and just their posts.
- Notifications. I would love to get notifications when someone replies to a post, or when a post surpasses a certain threshold in payout.
- A currency quote. Let's face it, a lot of us want to spend Steem to pay for things like groceries, bills, and going to the movies. How about an area showing current quotes for local currency?
- People who followed me. It would interesting to see if anyone followed my posts.
- Steem app. Currently I see Steem through my browser on my phone.
- Upload images to here. It would be great to be able to upload images to here.
So are these ideas useful? What ideas here did I get wrong, and they are already available? What ideas would you add? Are there some explanations about why some of these ideas won't work?
Thanks!
Steem is missing a referrals mechanism - and rewarding referrals of valuable community members.
An area which lists of posts I've voted on and the ability to save or favorite posts.
I like your ideas especially 1,4,5, 7 and 8. By the way I would add another bar research for reseaching a post in particular and gain a precious time
I think with images, though possible, I don't think that it is practical as everything is stored on the blockchain. You could encode it via HTML... It is possible. Hm, I should experiment if the HTML editor allows for that.
EDIT: Didn't work =(. Yeah, I don't think it should be feasible. Reddit just with in the last week or two just allowed images to be hosted through them.
