INTRUSION DETECTION AND PREVENTION SYSTEM
IDS is a network device or a tool in a server or firewall that scan malicious traffics in the network. It' detect but not take action so attack happen ,the work of the IDS is to detect, log and report to the admin. When an IDS is turned on, it's slow down network traffic. To prevent slow down of network IDS should need put offline. IPS prevent malicious traffics. The most common well used IDS/IPS it's "snort" IDS/IPS can be install in a host computer operating system such as Linus,windows
It also integrate with other third party to perform and log analysis, report.
It will be advisable for every computer user(s) to install IPS/IDS in their device. @cyruswa, @abibobby
