Science at home! Fun homemade experiments for the little ones. We will do magic with colors!
So let's go with the fun and see what is needed for the experiment!
Materials:
A glass
Mouthwash of any color
Bleach or chlorine
Procedures:
- We put some of the mouthwash liquid in a glass and then add some bleach. We see that with a little bleach the mixture becomes colorless in a few minutes.
- Children will be fascinated to see the change of color they will love to show their friends as it looks like a magic trick.
Note: Warning: bleach is dangerous to health, should be kept out of reach of children, and contact with the skin will be avoided. So this experiment is important to be performed under the supervision of an adult!
After a few minutes this is the final result !! Waoooo the rinse lost its color!
What happened?
Mouthwash fluids are used after brushing the teeth to maintain oral hygiene. They may contain water, alcohol, fluoride, menthol, chlorhexidine, etc.
Bleach is a solution of sodium hypochlorite in water that is usually used at home for cleaning and disinfection. Sodium hypochlorite is a strong oxidant that destroys or alters colors so it can be used as a bleach.
When the two are mixed, the bleach causes the mouth rinse to lose all its color.
