Steem is now more valuable to me than reddit

in #steem7 years ago (edited)

I used to lurk on reddit on a daily basis and I still do. I also of course read and curate on steem every day.

The thing that is different today vs a few months ago is that I find more useful content here than on reddit.

That is huge. In order for steem to be valuable it must create great content first and foremost and for me it has done this already by providing better content than what I can find on reddit.

Steem is a lot more fun for me because I can reward users that create content i like and i make money posting, commenting and by voting.

This is quite significant.

Steem is not perfect but in many ways it has shown that it is working.

I am very excited to see how steem will fare during the upcoming crash. It will be interesting to see the price, buy cheap steem and also see how usage of the platform will react to the change of the steem price.

Very interesting essay from someone that has street cred.
Thanks very much.

I am by no means a Steemit expert, but the reason I like better than Reddit and even Facebook is I haven't experienced any negativity from the posters. Steemit seems to be more professional and supportive of its members than these other sites.

I might also point out a few things (this issue seems to come up, but is very poorly thought through (in my opinion)):

a) Self voting does not tell you anything about how much curation someone might be doing, right?
b) Self voting has nothing to do with how much upvoting that same person might be doing?
c) Self voting may be the only way someone can get value for a lot of time put in, reading and considering other comments?
d) Self voting may be a good way for new users, to put their COMMENT UP TOP OF ALL OTHER COMMENTS?
e) Self voting may be a way to attract other new users, to their LONG-ish comment.

I would say this is only the TOP OF THIS ICEBERG...

Please keep in mind, I was first to comment on this particular post, and I wanted to give it some CREDIBILITY!

So I upvoted it, and put up a short but highly VALUABLE comment, after I DID IN FACT READ THE ARTICLE.
thx...

Thanks for sharing such a valuable post. This is something I was looking for. Thanks once again

That's the free market for you :) when ever people can freely profit from their work, things always get better!

Agreed same here, I used to waste many hours on reddit and the content here is easily as good but with the addition of being personal which is really nice. And all you give on reddit is karma, karma is great and all but it's not paying anyones bills! It's much nicer to be able to give something tangible!

That is significant. Nice to see the growth of the platform with the quality content here.

I don't expect we'll see sub $1 Steem after this again. Do you?

Well i think crypto will dive for a long time, as such i think steem will suffer also. I wont be aurprised if it goes back to sub $0.5, but in that case i will digg in.

I'd be digging in too. $0.5 for Steem could be nice.

Pretty much was for me, since the start... or when I first found it. I just never was a big Reddit fan... too many strange cliques and small infighting over stuff and posts getting deleted because some subredditor disagreed with a perspective.

I think Steemit is the future of this type of social content.

I feel the same way, bought some more steem today and if it goes lower I will have to get some more. Long term this is a discount!

I never got into Reddit but I love Steemit.

And THIS, from a guy that knows what he is talking about..
Good input, thx.
