Steem messaging app idea @dSnap and new @dSnap.bot voting bot

Warning: this is just an idea, vaporware, I might still decide against building it. Though the bid bot is up and running.

The idea for this is likely obvious from the name. A decentralized version of snapchat running on steem memos.

So far

• Idea
• Bought url dsnap.io
• Registered @dsnap @dsnap.bot
• Research other projects with a similar goal, Steem Messanger
• Setup server.
• Opened issue about adding memo encryption to steem-connect.
• Setup a fork of PostPromoter with @dsnap.bot and delegated 1000 SP.

Problems

• Long term there will be server, as well as storage cost for images.
• No curation rewards for sending memos. Though could add ability to post images.
• Revenue could be an issue.
• Sending a message would require confirming transaction via steem-connect every single message, this will be annoying.
• Alternativly sending messages will require the ability to send transfers, this will scare user's away for security reasons.
• Need more time to work on project.

Hypothetical Roadmap

• Basic proto-type for encrypted text via memo only
• (maybe) Add memo support to SteemConnect
• Switch prototype to use steem-connect
• Add ability to do public post with unencrypted image
• Add support for encrypted image via steem memo

Raising Awareness/Funds via bid-bot

I've forked the postPromoter bid-bot repo and I'll be running it on account @dsnap.bot. I also submitted it to SteemBotTracker.

It doesn't seem to be listed yet so if you see it with 100% voting power you should be able to get the full vote for 0.01 STEEM.

The bid-bot serves to help raise funds and awareness for the project.

%95 of profits will go to delegators and the remaining %5 will be kept for servers and future development.

That said I'm not promising anything in terms of development now. It is purely idea stage. I'm looking forward to findng more time to work on this, and also hearing form anyone else interested in the idea.
