Voice will NOT be a competitor to STEEM
Now we got more info about upcoming Voice launch which was suspected to be a direct STEEM competitor. Yet now that we have just 14 days to launch there is more and more info spread on what's coming and.. its not what you could expect.
We all know Dan (who created BTS, STEEM, EOS) left here at some point saying something went wrong and a lot of people were wondering what this "new STEEM" will be. Then we all heard of 30 million USD domain bought for the project and not much.
Lately, we heard it's not gonna launch on EOS blockchain actually but this is not bad news for "social users" rather for people who bought EOS predicting pump due to Voice but that's not what I want to speak about here.

Yes, you heard it. You will need to do FULL KYC to join Voice and will have to use real name over everything. You know whats KYC? Know Your Customer so verification of documents. Ie to trade Binance you need none and if you want to use extra features you upload selfie + id. Here to post you will also need to add proof of address which is often not even needed to trade on exchanges (!).
Worth to add all go on blockchain and imagine once writing something drunk or stupid and your name and surname is there forever.
Tokens also will be only sent between verified accounts.
Yes, it goes even further... if they don't like something or feel you been doing something another way than they want.. They can make you re-do KYC again if they wish.
I would say that blockchain usage here is the downside now not upside since everything else is centralized. And how does it deal with RODO in EU? In EU any user may want their data to be removed and website/portal has to do it no matter what.
TLDR
With Voice going 100% KYC i dont think it will get as a competitor to STEEM or other decentralized sites. They aim for the very different users, possibly known creators who already go by their names and not for cryptocurrency people at all.
Is this bad? No its not, just this is not what we are been hoping for. I assume th KYC is the reason it cant run on EOS now as its decentralized.
Lets see if those news will give STEEM a pump.

This is the ugly side of blockchain. If it gets into the wrong hands every thing you do is known, everything you own in known... how you earn and who from... Big Brother's ultimate tool.
Nothing here is compelling. This so called "huge" problem they're addressing isn't as much of a problem as they think. Twitter already has too much market domination for them to break into that with the primary value proposition just being, there's no bots. That's dumb as hell.
It will all depend on the $$$. How much can people earn there. I remember reading something that made it sound like the crypto was just an internal thing where you can only use it to basically promote your posts. If that's all it is and you can't actually earn money with it, it's going to be a hilariously expensive dud and failure.
Voice might be huge by doing this. No sock puppets, fake accounts, bots, bad actors, dirty gamification etc etc... if they can get the users, real people info is going to be very valuable.
you can make fake accounts. no system is 100% secure.
It's going to be very difficult to try... if a person "really" wants to create a fake account just to be on social media, that person needs a life lol
there are many reasons for fake Accounts. Not all is trolling.
Its a hole Industry. Online Marketings is a Multi Billion Industry.
Sell Likes / dislikes , Followers, Shares ......
Share News / Ads / Fakenews .....
Fake Comments
.......
And there rare way more reasons. Someone doesnt want to talk with real name about politics ( think about countrys there can die because of it.....)

And its not very difficult to create tons of fake accounts with bots....

If I can receive an income from the voice platform, I will do the KYC from a business perspective.
I wouldn't count on this having a huge impact on Steem price.
The kind of money that's gonna move markets is more likely to come from serious institutional-type investors than the small underdogs who hold firm to their convictions in complete anonymity. And if were either-or, Voice is likely to have alot greater professional-grade strengths that'd validate investment in it/EOS than Steem.
I could be wrong.
And either way, it's likely that both will gain in the next bull run...
100% KYC will likely not bring a lot of customers... I specifically avoid KYC, because if we don't avoid it then what's the point of crypto and anonymity?
there are far more purposes to crypto and anonymity than just the avoidance of KYC.
I'd contend that the hardcore crypto-heads who are completely against KYC are a far smaller minority than the larger population Voice is aiming to serve. And that there may actually be a purpose to the KYC necessary for Voice to serve in the ways they intend to: accountability.
No hiding behind fake pseudonames and masks. Real people with real identities valuing transparency, making contributions to a community as real people.
Of course, this might not be everyone's bag of tea. But then again, different strokes for different folks. Each platform shall have its place and purpose...

That is a straight up honeypot. Bet you there will be a mandate of linking IPs as well just to maintain full control over the fools who actually go through the ordeal of their onerous KYC. Really sounds like it is gov't funded.

Idk tho, gives it legitimacy in the United States and already leaps over boundaries that several other chains will have a hard time overcoming. We'll see!
