Steem comes in with the 4th most Dapps of any public blockchain in the world

DappReview put out their 2019 year end report as it relates to public blockchains and their dapps.

Not surprisingly, steem made the list.

Steem was ranked number 5 overall with the 4th most dapps of any blockchain in the world:

What is surprising is that some of the names behind steem continue to have much higher market valuations...

I'm looking at you NEO ($670 million), ONT ($344 million), and WAVES ($84 million)... compared with STEEM at $43 million.

Though I will admit a couple of those other platforms have significantly more users, or at least claim to have them.

But still...

Steem's portion in the write up....

If you scroll far enough down the report, you can find the little blurb on steem.

The report can be seen here btw:

STEEM

Steem is a high-tps public chain. Graphene technology is used on the underlying architecture as BitShares. In 2019, the two most popular dapps are Steemit and Steem Monster.

Steemit is a decentralized content platform. As the first dapp on Steem, it has many loyal users. However, from a data perspective, the number of users decreased in 2019. Its DAU was about 5,000 at the beginning of the year, while it had been reduced to about 2,000 in November and December.

Card game SteemMonster is definitely the “Game Dapp of the Year” on the Steem blockchain. The DAU is between 3,000~4,000, and retention is high as well.

Some thoughts...

It's nice to see that even after all this time that steem is still able to hang within the top 4 or 5 spots in terms of dapps and users.

However, from what I read here, there is a big difference between the top 3 blockchains and everyone else in terms of apps and users.

And, if we are not careful it could remain that way indefinitely.

Steem has a marketing problem, but it's not entirely marketing's fault as we really haven't been ready to market much of anything as the retention rates have been so poor for the flagship app.

However, once SMTS, communities, and some of these other apps roll out (and ramp up), we need to shout steem from the roof tops and hopefully launch a major marketing campaign if we want to help change things.

I would be all for the DAO funding a large marketing campaign, or as large of one as we could possibly fund, as long as it was being lead by a marketing professional.

Anyways, hopefully these next few months steem starts to bridge the divide from those top 3 in terms of valuation, users, and number of dapps.

Stay informed my friends.

one thing we need to understand that is the # of dapps mainly depends on quality and integrity of apps, # of new users...
therefore, we do not to forget; the need to actively promote steem and steemit in every localities to attract new users. if that is fulfilled sure we become the top three

That is the idea, yes.

It's great to hear Steem making strides since its inception. I do agree with you, that Steem does lack in certain features which could make it a more pleasing experience for the mainstream. Hopefully, those new features will be released soon, and once it does, we'll join hands together to market Steem and get more people aboard!
