Steemit and Steem getting some press!
With the HF quickly approaching, some news sites have been talking about steem.
Normally I don't see many things steemit/steem related on yahoo.finance.
In fact, I think I only have seen something there once or twice in the last 3 years.
Ironically, it was there that I first heard about steemit and steem, but that is a story for another day.
I just stumbled upon this the other day as it relates to steem and steemit:

This is on top of a number of other news outlets talking about the upcoming HF.
It mostly has to do with the PR that steemit put out announcing it...
For his part, Coingecko has been doing his part with a HF explanation and countdown on his website:

We also got a tweet from Coindesk talking about the upcoming HF:

There have also been a number of smaller crypto news sites picking up the PR.
We need to keep doing this!
I know that PRs cost money, but hopefully this was a revelation to steemit,inc that they should put out press releases when steemit and or steem has significant news to share.
In my opinion, steemit needs basically a complete re-branding due to the negative press it has had over the past couple years, but if we aren't going to do that we better be prepared to advertise in order to bring in the new users.
Anyways, great to see some news sites talking about steem and steemit again.

What good news! Although I believe that we can do the best advertising ourselves, it is necessary that the team in charge of marketing and advertising STEEMIT find suitable strategies to reach more audiences and in a forceful way.
Well the site has mostly relied on word of mouth thus far, but that likely isn't really enough. It needs an advertising campaign, when the time is right.
I hope we can turn this ship around! All it takes is for ONE of these apps or tribes to take off and STEEM can come along for the ride!
Yep, but for that happen we likely need to try marketing one of them. For that to happen we need a project that can scale and then we need resources... IE a fat marketing budget. No one seems to have that currently.
Something is better than nothing! Considering that price have stabilized, we could see a relief bounce once the Hard Fork goes live!

I sure hope so. What are your thoughts on the outcome of the hf? I am not very optimistic unfortunately...
At a high level I am concerned that it only silo the existing community even more as it seems that new users will struggle to earn sufficient stakes in the short term although now is the best time to buy in. However, I think experimenting with changes is good until we find an alignment to the demands of the community and potential users that may come in.

Yep, my thoughts as well. We have a tough enough time getting and keeping new people. Now we just made it even harder...
PR are 100% useful and STINC should do that when there is something meaningful to share.
Agreed, but they do cost money.
