How Do You Attract The Whale Upvotes? Here's A Hint...
I'm only a few days away from my 'one year' Steem-anniversary and I've been reflecting a lot about my journey, so far, on STEEM.
I came to this blockchain with big dreams, and I'll be honest...The lure of the mighty 'whale upvote' was almost too good to be true. I would see post getting love from these mega-accounts here on STEEM and thought to myself...Why not me?
I can earn their trust...
I'll produce good content that will for sure attract their attention...
And after about a month or so, I understood how that was like playing the lottery for your retirement plans.
If it happens....Great! But don't rely for it...
So I decided to show up...Everyday.
And produce content that I ENJOYED to produce. I used so many of the amazing dApps on STEEM to help me achieve this as well...From blogging with @steempress to videos on @dtube and everything in between...I'm so thankful for the developers of all the dAapps that I've been using. You guys may not know it, but you are the reason so many of us fall in love with STEEM even more each and everyday.
But let's get back to 'attracting the whale upvotes...'
Here's a game plan that has served me well (and I Tweeted about it today...)
Not much of a revelation...And looking back at this Tweet, I wish Twitter would give me the option to edit it lol (You'd think after a decade of being online, they would have that feature....?)
Yes, I believe in personal branding. And sure I appreciate that people are attracted to a 'professional look'...but the message I was trying to get across was this...
Show up. Everyday. And PRODUCE!
Because when you do that, you will attract THE RIGHT people!
Simple right?
You'd think this would be a no-brainer in any social media environment but here on STEEM, we are SO attached to the almighty upvote and the price of STEEM tokens. And I think that's where we miss the boat...
When you show up every day and produce content (through new blog posts, vlogs or engagement) you are building a reputation of an action taker!
And that attracts EVERYONE (whales included)!
Does it guarantee the upvotes we are all looking for? Nah, not at all...But when you 'get what STEEM is', you are more worried about building your reputation on this blockchain, rather than just an upvote or two.
Hey I'm not an idiot, if @thejohalfiles or @kpine decide to give me the big thumbs up, I'm all for it... :)
But it's not my reason for being here. My vision has not changed...Way back on December 7th 2017, I joined STEEM because I thought it was the perfect marriage...Blockchain aligned with social media....I couldn't DREAM of a better match...And almost a year later, it's clearer to me now than ever before...
We are going to change the world!
So do the work now, and engage everyday...Upvotes or not....You will be glad you did in the next few years....

I guess that’s the key for every success - show up, do the work, be active, be persistent and the rest will come. 🙏At least with social media and platforms like that 🙈

Hard work does pay off. Those big upvotes are definitely something everyone wishes for but for me receiving some meaningful comments on my post makes my day.

No doubt....good work always pays off ......but being regular and continuous posting is not going to help. .....I am regular on this platform ..and posting everyday...still I hardly seen any whales votes.....
I have seen the days when johalfiles or blocktrades or others used to vote even on simple drawing.....but now it's hard to even see them anywhere.....not sure about the bot account.....

and that’s when i use bots. and the people that hate bots can just start upvoting everyone if that’s the case lol
can’t wait on the big votes. at least i don’t. i’m confident in my content and while i know it’s not the greatest stuff out there it’s not a ‘shit post’ lol

Keep producing good stuff that you like and it will attract people.
As I said earlier that engagement is a key to success here on steem platform.

My activities have declined a little due to family circumstances, but I will increase them again.

What you are saying is the key to achieving anything worth while. Its about repetition, persistence, hard work, and the dedication to show up everyday. It is these principles you talked about that allowed me to learn how to oil paint, write, play guitar, piano, etc. Any form of success is found by what you are saying. It is a secret wise men and women have known and utilized since the beginning of humankind. Cool post

Well said and well written. I felt the same in the first place, heck I even stopped posting for a few month, but not because I didn’t want to post, but because I was so tied up with work and left steemit for about 3 months, just posting steepshot. Until @share2steem came around, it was a complete game changer.
I used to hope for whale to upvote my content every time I post, seems like what I like, the whales may not like. It’s ok for me now. Whether I get a big or small upvote on my posting, it doesn’t matter anymore. Because I see long term in STEEM. Start now, Reap Later.

Its good you clear around 1 year on steemit and congratulation for that. The best thing which i observed here is you will get good upvote from whale if you promote your post with around 300 to 400 steem and then your post will be in trending page. And you will get notice by whales on steemit and then additionaly you required a good content bid bot abuse will be not good if content is worthless .

i mean. i’ve never been super high on the trending. and the most i’ve spent to promote a post is around $100
i’m not sure if that guarantees a vote either. i think it’s literally...be in front of people everyday and deliver value.
