We can expect the worst and get better than originally estimated, this will take some time to digest, then learn about what the next move will be.
As you mentioned this is Community driven, let us hope all things are taken into consideration from technical, financial and people supporting this blockchain initiative.
I see that the community it acting already as nobody want to swap from a technical 1st. grade blockchain to something less powerful.
Let us hope transition is smooth without too much upheaval.
I - and many or most others - don‘t see a reason to switch to a less performing and less developed blockchain.
