HELP! Can Pro Wrestling Grow Steem Mainstream Adoption? Not If @steemcleaner and @cheetah Can Help It!
Hi Steemians!
I am here today to ask for your assistance. I am actively trying to grow the jiu jitsu, mma, and pro wrestling communities on Steem. These are very popular content creators on mainstream social media sites. They also are a great set of communities to target because the demographics include men, woman, and children of all ages.
An important aspect of targeting these communities is that while we have the billion dollar companies like WWE and UFC, there are also smaller independent promotions and leagues. While Steem may have issues reaching those billion dollar companies right now, we can target the trend setters in the independent promotions. This is one sure fire way to get the attention of the WWE and UFC in the future, as they keep a close eye on what's popular in the sub culture of the indies. They usually follow what the indies do, after the risk vs reward has been tested.
Selling the Steem platform has been tough these first two years. The marketing of the platform has honestly been dismal. I believe we have to change what we are doing in both marketing and on-boarding new content creators.
Even when mainstream stars, or famous YouTubers show up to Steem, there is not much support from the community. There is a learning curve to get started on Steem, and many in the community are improving the on-boarding. One of the best ways to get the attention of the mainstream is to show them first hand how Steem is a great community and a valuable social media resource.
This can be difficult sometimes. We do not have much freedom on Steem to create fan accounts because it is considered by some to be plagiarism. I agree that Steem has to manage the issues of plagiarism and identity theft, however, there should be a way to support fan accounts. This could be a tool to really show the mainstream audience how they can monetize their content, and how other useful tools such as @steempeak's "add beneficiaries" work.
I knew that @cheetah and @steemcleaner would eventually find and flag my content. I also knew that they would not care that the account was clearly labeled as a fan account and would be handed over to the content creators when requested. I knew they would not care that each and every post included the same statement that this was a fan account, and that you could contact @jiujitsu at [email protected]. I knew that the transparency of the blockchain would show that not only did i create the account with my own Steem, and in most cases funded up to 25 Steem to power up. I knew that even though I stated that I would not cash out any Steem or SBD, and the blockchain can prove this on every account, that they would not care. I knew that when they flagged me and I replied in the comments, that they would not care and continue to flag me.
Even though I knew all of these things, I invested my time, my effort, and my own money out of pocket, and I will continue to do so. Why? Because I want to grow the Steem blockchain. I want to bring in new people who create original content, and who are popular across all mainstream social media platforms. I also want to show these industries how the Steem blockchain can monetize and incentivize growth like they have never seen before.
The genre of pro wrestling had explosive growth due to the creation of internet. It also has seen explosive growth since the creation of social media. Both the billion dollar company WWE, and the entire industry of independent wrestling are reliant on social media to promote their products. Their ROI on social media at this point has been the sales of tickets to live events, pay-per-view buys, and sales of merchandise. Steem can offer them additional ROI in the form of actual revenue, as well as the ability to have sales right on the Steem blockchain.
One of the best things about Steem, is that when these companies come to the blockchain, they will bring hundreds of thousands, if not millions of followers with them. These are every day people who watch pro wrestling, but they are also every day people who will take part in many different communities of Steem once they arrive. For these promotions, the ability to have their millions of fans earn Steem on this platform can turn into more sales back to them long term. But you have to reach those companies.
Another amazing aspect of pro wrestling is that they create original content almost every time they perform. One of my favorite features out now is the "add beneficiaries" feature on Steempeak. Pro wrestling is one of the best ways to show as an example of content that has multiple creators and participants, and how you can pay everyone in the content with the power of the Steem blockchain. In one small video clip, you could see the following people paid out:
The promotion
Any sponsors
Two or more wrestlers
The referee
Managers
Ring girls
The announcers
Anyone else involved in the production of the content.
This is such a great example of how companies can work together on Steem to cross promote and create content where everyone can earn rewards in a fair and transparent way. But you have to reach those companies.
I also created the accounts @combatsports, @supportwrestlers, and @supportfighters to show how you can pay out beneficiaries. Anytime a piece of content crossed over and involved talent from another account, I showed that you can use this to benefit multiple accounts. The pro wrestling industry could use this type of platform and technology to change how they do business. But you have to reach those companies.
We see how they promote Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. We could very well see the Steem logo, or many of the other Steem apps one day. But you have to reach those companies.
I want to reach these companies.
Since I have began this project, I have created multiple accounts that are pro wrestling content. I have been very transparent. I am not doing this for personal gain. I did not pretend to be these companies. @steemcleaner says that it was identity theft. It's not identity theft when I'm not pretending to be them. As usual, while they are performing an important job on the Steem blockchain, they have decided to take advantage of their power and simply start flagging the content. I don't have time to argue with these guys, nor do I think I can win against them. I could care less what they think. I don't think that they do a great job at what they are trying to do. But, I don't try to do their job, so who am I to judge.
What I do want to do, is to be sure that all of my hard work, time, effort, and investment into these accounts is not going to waste.
Please take a look at the following accounts and help me out by completing the following tasks:
- Check the accounts on steemd.com and their transactions in the wallet. You will see that these accounts were created on @anonsteem, which means I PAID to create these accounts out of pocket. In many cases I also sent up to 25 Steem to these accounts and powered them up.
- Check the description of each account - I clearly state it is a fan account, that no Steem/SBD will be cashed out, and the account will be given to the original content creator upon request.
- Check the posts of these accounts. I clearly state it is a fan account, that no Steem/SBD will be cashed out, and the account will be given to the original content creator upon request.
- Check the posts on @steempeak or on steemd.com and you will see that I used the "pay beneficiaries" feature on much of the content so that I could show this industry how this can benefit their ability to create content and reward talent.
- Please consider following these accounts to show your support.
- Please consider upvoting and re-steeming the posts from these accounts to show your support.
- Please create your own posts that voice your thoughts and opinions on this topic, even if you disagree with me and my methods of creating the accounts and running them as a fan account to demo the Steem blockchain.
- Please consider delegating SP to @jiujitsu, so that I can continue my work of creating and running as many pro wrestling accounts as I can handle.
- Please consider delegating SP to these accounts and to the @combatsports account that is set up to curate martial arts, mma, and pro wrestling content.
- Please reach out to the future owners of these accounts on their mainstream social media, email, or websites. We need to get the attention of the pro wrestling industry where they already live on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. I have linked many of their accounts in the posts I created on Steem.
Thanks for listening. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on how we can market and grow Steem to the mainstream audience. I hope that you can see my vision. I hope that even if you do not agree with my methods, that you can see that I am coming into this from an honest perspective that this can benefit the Steem blockchain. If you don't agree, then provide better ideas. Let's work together. I think that even if you do not like pro wrestling, that you can agree that they do create original content that is very popular on mainstream social media. I think you can agree that attracting them to Steem can benefit us, and also show them how the Steem bloclchain can benefit an entire industry.
I have the cards stacked against me. I will not win a flag war against @steemcleaners or @cheetah. But with your help and support, I can look forward to releasing the videos on these accounts where they are verified to be owned and ran by the content creators themselves, and we can tell @steemcleaners and @cheetah to remove the flags and bans. That's honestly my ultimate goal here.

I am fairly new to the platform and cannot comment yet on the policy and stuff but I do like your passion for promoting Pro Wrestling. As some one who is in Digital Marketing , all that I can say is that some things will take time, block chain is fairly new for the masses and even less people know what it actually means but this is the future and the more people get on board earlier, the better it is. As for the policies, I believe they will evolve with time and if feedback is taken from the community and acted upon, I do not see why this cannot be a popular platform for stars, artists etc to use. It will take time but we will get there and it is great to see you passionate about this issue and hopefully more people will comment and discuss this issue
Thanks for your feedback and welcome to Steem! People are who are in digital marketing understand the value that the Steem platform can bring to many different industries. It’s not just pro wrestling. That’s just the use case I chose because they are social media reliant and sales heavy. I know it’s never good to steal content and profit. I have been transparent that I’m not the content creator, and the blockchain is transparent that I have not profited. I hope that @steemcleaner and @cheetah processes do evolve over time, because right now, some of their processes absolutely suck. There needs to be a way to fund and run fan accounts that can show mainstream content creators what they are missing out on. This can be a very successful way to attract a much larger audience of quality content creators. As for now marketing Steem and on boarding can be a hassle and we lose out on growth. @steemcleaner and @cheetah are part of the problem. They irritate long term users and run off new users with the current way they handle potential identity theft and plagiarism. I get they have a job to do that provides value, but currently it’s at the expense of growth. For now, I’ll continue to fund new accounts and promote Steem to the pro wrestling community. Eventually, many of these content creators will want to own these keys and accounts.
