I'd rather take the gold, it's a tradable item among the masses, crypto is not known to the average Joe and in a crysis (which is not defined) electricity and internet connection are questionable therefore the USB essentially worthless.

That's true. And also, i am not sure if a technically competent people will know how to access the crypto in it.
Indeed, if you didn't need access to the crypto it could be a way to try and keep something for when the crisis ends.
