3 Things I Hate about Steemit so far
Ok so I'm two weeks in and I'm having alot of fun on here but I've noticed 3 things I hate about this site..
The search function sucks balls. I hope they fix this. Perhaps adding a keyword function would help narrow down the pool of randomness that is listed when u search a topic
U only get paid out for the first 7 days after u add a post. Maybe u spent alot of time on an article and made some really good content..u won't see any reward if people don't view it within a week. This leads to more clickbaity items doing well without much substance and posts are more or less throwaway after a week. After they are buried in the sections after 24 hours noones gonna see them again anyways..
There's far too many foreign posts I have to scroll thru when I'm in one of the sub sections. I don't speak Chinese, French or whatever the hell some of the posts I see tons of are on alot of the sections. Some have illegible broken English aswell because the poster maybe trying to make it available to the bigger English speaking crowd idk?.. I don't have that problem on other platforms. Maybe they could have language feature so if I input English I only see English posts?
Like I said I'm having tons of fun here, there's alot of good content but I feel to really make Steemit great and sustainable long-term it could use some tweaking. I've heard we're in beta so perhaps some changes will occur in time to make the site better?

Your first 2 items listed; it turns out, these 2 things, reference back to each other in a very frustrating loop!
Things are hard to find, since search is so disgusting..
And because we may only upvote for 7 days, or resteem for 7 days, articles become that much harder to find later.
And there is absolutely no motivation for readers to upvote or promote after the first week.
My article that took me a full day to write, is worth more than 7 days of reward.
I'm sure there are reasons why this was done this way; it has to do with curation rewards for new content?
Not sure.

Thanks so much for stopping by and helping to give my post validity! Some people will think I'm just trashing Steemit but it's constructive criticism, I'm enjoying this platform quite a bit so far.. it's just I want it to be as good as it can be. To your point, when u first start on here all that time it takes for a new user to make a post is pretty much wasted. You're not gonna get many views or upvotes because you just don't have followers yet. A great post that may have substance could garner more views and upvotes over time if there was a decent search feature and that should be rewarded if a simple meme can grab a buncha upvotes from an already established poster. It would encourage better content aswell as making the site and the investment better for all
Just want to remind you that this platform is still on the Beta stage. Everything will get better with time.
For sure I mentioned that in the post. Perhaps if alot of people upvote this and leave their suggestions the powers that be will see it ;)
Good post. I think there are certain things that will be tweaked once we get off beta, and possibly the ability to personalize your experience. Maybe you could make it so you only see English language posts (or that you prefer them), etc. I think these are great ideas. The payout isn't likely to change though. (At least I don't think). Yeah I usually don't use the search function unless I'm searching for something very specific that I know already exists. Otherwise I just search for users, which it's just steemit.com/@user. Good post brudda
Yeah the search is important to me and would make the site alot better imo if they could hone it. If I..or anyone else, wanted to see or learn about a certain topic it adds to the experience. It would make steemit a source for ppl trying to find something specific u know? I feel that would add value to the platform rather than just for blogging and randomness

Oh yeah 100% I'm not trying to come off as hating on Steemit but it could use improvement for the betterment of everyone

I agree with all of what you said, I've had a similar experience so far. That being said I can't wait til it all gets worked out and we're no longer in Beta! I see a ton of potential. Growing pains, I suppose. Great post, thanks for sharing!

@goldenarms I agree with you. I hope things get refined thus making the site stickier and more fun. Thanks for voicing what has been bugging me about steemit.
