QRF

Three little letters but ones that can have great implication. QRF. I can imagine some of you are thinking WTF right now...Also three letters but with a completely different connotation. So I better get on with it right?

QRF in military terms means Quick Reaction Force which is typically an armed unit capable of a very rapid response to developing situations, most typically to support other units in need of assistance.

So, how could this relate in any way to non-military personnel? Not at all really however with a slight manipulation of two words I think it applies nicely to steem.

QRF: Quick Reply Focus.

Have you ever taken the time to respond to a blog, written a valid and engaging reply and then...Nothing? For ages, or possibly forever. You forget the comment you made, the post it related to and move on right? No stress and no big deal for you, but what about the person you responded to? Could this lack of reply back to you affect their progress on steem? I think yes.

Now before I go on...Yes I know people are busy in life. Yes I know some accounts get many, many comments to their blogs. Yes I know it's the users prerogative to reply in a timely fashion, or at all. I'm not trying to have a crack at anyone, only point out that having a QRF here on steem may indeed assist a user to develop better relationships, followers, enjoyment and possibly post rewards. Come on, you get it right?

I try to respond to replies as quickly as possible and value engagement, people who take the time to do so with me. Sometimes they've even read my post first which makes it even better. I know I miss some occasionally but I think in the main I'm pretty good at replying to those who comment on my posts.

When I don't get a reply back from an initial comment I've made on a person's blog though, for a long time, I mean a couple of days, it's sort of too late. I've moved on and it no longer seems relevant. I think that's a wasted opportunity for the user who may have been new to steem. Opportunity lost, and opportunities, genuine ones are not the easiest of things to come by here.

My advice for newer users...When someone replies to your posts and you can tell it's a valid, relevant reply, a genuine attempt to engage...Respond in kind and in a reasonable time frame. Have a QRF in that noggin of yours and make the effort to respond. There's no point responding to a bot like I've seen many do...It's better to deploy your comment in the right area, upon the right person, and in a suitable timeframe. It's your choice of course, however it's certainly a powerful way of involving yourself in the community, building your brand and exposing yourself to others...Or not, it's your call.

When I first started on this platform I commented a lot. I made a point of it but these days it seems the only thing new users are prepared to do is put 57 different blog banners at the end of their blog, take pictures of boulders, gates, bus stops, mushrooms and all sorts of other bullshit then sit back waiting for the millions to roll in...Well, that's not going to work, not in isolation anyway. Engagement is necessary, especially with HF21 and free flags on the way.

To those existing/older users promoting themselves via these banners on other people's blogs...How about also promoting some of the attributes that will actually assist those new users rather than simply having your minions promote you and your concepts via your blog banner(s). Teach them to be sustainable.

Anyway...Whatever. Get QRF into your noggin, use 73 post banners, engage, don't engage, photograph a pile of rocks and call them boulders...It's a free platform for people and bots to use as they like. It just takes a little more effort here so if you want it to be easier go over to Facebook and like everything. No thought required there at all and your rocks masquerading as boulders might pick up a like or two. No blog banners required there.
