RE: Is Steemit a scam?

in #steem6 years ago

Two years on I'm reading this with great interest. I've been blogging on Steemit for more than two years now. I'd go and upvote your latest posts but you don't seem to be around anymore.

I've had some good times with cryptos, but it remains to be seen what is really going on...

Sort:

I have so much to say about it... It's like you gave me homework. Sheesh.

Sorry - you are the person I know on Steemit who would most have looked into this, but if I had to summarize my own overview it's that Steemit is like the entire internet - set up with evil intent but it can work both ways - and Dan I've never trusted an inch - hence why I bought EOS for $6 and sold it for $12 - even the logo screams evil scam

Yep - The mining was shady. (Funny tip, you can see who was involved by seeing what their account creation number was. For Instance. Bernie is 340, Ned and Dan... in the 400s.) This info shows on Steemd.

I'm over the mining part - a couple of reasons.. Those who are still here, held through .07 cents and Dan leaving. So, it's kind of a dead issue... Whatever happened.

I have no opinion on the Synereo part, but I have to say... Steem's name being close to Synereo, because they start with a S is so weak, I laughed out loud. Also, they didn't get it done and we DID.

I guess one could also say most new crypto projects steal some ideas from some former projects and expand on them. So, I find all of that BS boring.

End of the day, I think Dan is very smart and a bit of an Engineer, with no ability to lead a business, cultivate a culture or basically do anything beyond the design. I can't decided whether or not I think he has integrity and that is rare for me. I can usually "just tell".

My gut instinct on Stan is he is gross and scammy and defensive.

I think there were many scammy things here in the early days and some of those still happen.

The beauty of a trustless system is if I use my stake to it's fullest ability, no one else can really hurt me.

On the other hand, if we are trying to build a project here, I see very little signs that anyone knows how and is willing to lead it.

I'm currently holding. I am not longer focused on acquiring, because I think our competition is catching up too fast.

PS - now I've tried out and joined trype - my verdict at this point - geek central, hard to use, runs like a pig, bored my pants off, heaps of stuff needs changing including basics like following people, searching, thumbnails - bloody everything really...

i know it's new but steemit was never that slow

and rules on what subjects you can post about, what images you can use, and who you can vote for - or get banned - my immediate reaction is fuck that...

will i use it? - very unlikely

We might be twins separated at birth, lol. (nah, I'm older) That was EXACTLY my reaction. I mean, I could have typed that.

I'm 51 so no spring chicken myself...

Now after trying it out again I think it's a complete dog...

Dan is such a goober

I just tried Steempeak again - so much potential, but that feed is unusable - so far I think Steemit spanks the competition - including the inferior clone Weku (in NZ we have Wekas)

I haven't looked at weku yet. Should I?

Not really - it's an EXACT copy of Steemit but with no members...
Odd.

Thanks!

Are you on Trybe? - I just set up an account to have a look but I think it looks like another G+ vs fakebook - and I pick it to be the loser.

Although in the longer term I'm picking fakebook to be the even bigger loser...
