RE: Statement on Softfork 0.22.2

Glad to see that you're adding your thoughts despite not being a top witness. It really is appreciated.

My reading of the whole acquisition is that Tron wants more active apps and users to their ecosystem. That means more than owning STEEM and Steemit in and of itself.

By making it easier for the community to trust that there will not be a hostile take over, and that the promises made by Steemit Inc about it's stake not being used will be kept, I believe it will be much easier for Tron/Sun to get what they want.

Sort:

As I've mentioned several times before, Justin Sun does not need the Steemit stake to execute a hostile takeover. He has Steemit.com and Poloniex, is buddies with CZ and generally influential and resourceful in the crypto space. Certainly orders of magnitudes more than us random yahoos that are Steem witnesses. If he wills it, TRC STEEM will become the defacto new STEEM. He has thus far chosen to prefer a peaceful solution, though now that witnesses have made a ostensibly hostile move, it'll be interesting to see whether he takes the high road or executes the hostile takeover.

This chain will be fine, of course, but it may or may not be the defacto STEEM chain going forward.

Steemit.com the domain and its content has value if I had the kind of money many of the crypto projects has, I would buy just the domain. I am well aware that the content space is trouble with the recent cases like the tripadvisor layoffs.
