Coinbase Custody is a custodial service for institutional clients optimized for storing large amounts of cryptocurrency in a highly secure way.
This could be big news for Steem
Any coin or token I have seen added to coinbase always gets a lot more attention from investors.
They blog post does state though, that this would be just for storage and not trading on Coinbase, but that's a great first step in my opinion.

Certainly an interesting development; "attention" from any kind of major player is usually a good thing. Simply the fact that Steem is being considered adds a layer of legitimacy in the mind of the broader market... a sort of "coolness by association."
Of course, if Steem becomes included in their custodian accounts, it's a short step to people pushing for Steem to be part of the Coinbase exchange.

Time to start talking to coinbase customer service representatives and ask for Steem trading?
This would be SWEET! I understand some have had issues with Coinbase, but as of yet, I have not. But being the biggest player, as far as I can tell from popular opinion, Coinbase taking on STEEM would help bringing in new users as well as making things easier for those of us already here. However, this is probably NOT good news for the folks at BlockTrades...

Seriously though, this is fantastic news and sure there are no guarantees, it still puts STEEM on the radar big time.

Yeah if coinbase lists it , for sure. It only has 5 listed so far!
Damn that would be pretty sick if STEEM got on coinbase, even just to get people intrigued enough to learn more about it

... or the sleeping giant that everyone thinks is a joke, but actually has the best fees and transactions speeds of a mined coin... It's all perspective. :)
Not knocking it @clayboyn, plus quite aware that with 115 billion coins, Doge has the infrastructure to take over the world... the greater world likes (psychologically speaking) to own "whole units" of assets.

it kind of doesn't though... It's literally BTC's code with the font changed and a dog as the image... Only reason it has good fees and transaction speeds is that not as many people use it, that doesn't mean it wouldn't have the same exact issues at scale
