Six Weeks On STEEM

in #steem8 years ago

It's time I share

Look, it's easy to get all hyperbolic with STEEM. There's a reason for this though: despite the drop in price and thus post value, STEEM's for real. WIthout further ado, I wish to present to you the actual events of the past six weeks using this novel social network.

Week One: Let's give this thing a try....

So I made two posts at first. One about a novel blockchain (which I'd still like to pursue) and another about steemit itself, which I'll be refreshing soon. It's impressive to see the front end evolve as quickly as we have.

Week Three: No shit? That is like, real money?

Well, it took me a second to wrap my head around really, and of course some extra time to really confirm by withdrawing. But, fact is , it is truly real money. I was able to pull it out of the bank like this:

Steemit Money

it was of course at this point that people around me are like..... "well ain't that sumpin' "..... and indeed, it is sumpin!

Week Four & Five: I begin to understand

Steemit is the ideal mechanism for:

  • Propogating Cryptocurrency
  • Creating an online community in a sustainable way
  • Showing off the features of graphene
  • ....and hell, making a few bucks by blogging, kinda
  • Company hired to do work on steemit-related projects & graphene-ness

Week SIx: The steemit meetup, and the dawn of @steemitcity

  • Trip to Cambodia!
  • Begin working on steemitcity.

Please, allow me to cut to the chase:

In six weeks, monetized social media powered by the STEEM blockchain has literally changed how I live. Here's what I am doing when I get back to Vietnam:

  • Meeting up with my girlfriend

  • Helping her get her passport set

  • Buying a "Honda Win" or similar

  • Riding to Saigon

  • Eating Kongguksu

  • Riding from Saigon to Siam Reap, with stops in Can Tho and Phnom Phenh

  • Taking tons of photos on the way, videos too

  • Making the best possible guide for riding the Ho Chi Minh trail North to South, and posting it on Steemit!

Not a perfect community/codebase on Steemit, either: As we all know the code and the social code need some work, and I say this without any shame at all:

steemit.com is the best damn thing going, because of its experimental nature.

STEEM ON!

Sort:

Steemit is freedom it is possible not to work for the uncle

I've only been here a moth and change myself. It's encouraging to see other new users doing well. Good luck!

Good for you! Full Steem ahead....love what is possible with Steemit. A nice bright spot in a sometimes dark world.

That's exactly how I feel about steemit overall:

a nice bright spot in a sometimes dark world.... :)

Indeed!

Gotta say I love the green and I don't mean the money. Seeing photos from your adventures is pretty awesome. It's awesome that steemit can help along the way.

Would photos of the green and brief reports on local weed cultures be of interest?

I'm sure whatever you post will be interesting. ;)

Nicely done post. You have a wide variety of interests and the articles are well put together.

I've only been on Steemit a few days but it is a very addictive place because you see the promise of free thinking and writing. Your video reminds me of the monsoons when I lived in Okinawa, Japan. I will be watching for more of your articles.

Don't get discouraged it your first few posts don't go as well as you expect: people often take some time to get used to steemit's odd "format" or lack thereof.

Oh yeah this is real money!

Keep doing what you're doing man. Glad to see it's working for you :)
