RE: Steemit Update [Sep 15th, 2022]: Community Curators for October - Applications Open

in #steem2 years ago

I know the thread wasn't exactly about promotion but it just occurred to me that I never saw any Twitter user promoting Twitter or a Facebook user promoting Facebook. It's always the company who takes care of the Marketing. Allocates budget for promotions, develops marketing strategies and constantly evolves the UI to keep the users hooked by giving them a better user experience.

A common community member would never do it the right way considering he's not getting paid for it. Sc01 votes are not the payment specially when no author has a right to use his rewards for the past year or so.

Please forgive me, having no right to the rewards is the reason of massive powerdowns and corruption. It was bound to happen. I shared my concerns when clubs were introduced but nobody dare say anything because everyone was worried about the sc01 votes.

For instance, user A having 10k SP and 10k Steem in an external wallet and user B having 20k SP and nothing as such in external wallet. The price goes up or there's an emergency which requires funds. What will the users do? User A can utilize the rewards in external wallet and User B will have to power down, right? So what was better? Balanced power ups or vigorous power ups?

Power ups are necessary to build an independent and truly decentralized community but converting Steemit into something completely opposite is the biggest damage to the ecosystem.

I am strong advocate for writing with heart and not for rewards. But an author should have a right to his share of rewards.

We need good content? Just let the authors spend their rewards. Nothing in this world is free but Steemians are putting their hardwork and precious times on Steemit - for free. How long they will do it? One by one everyone will get tired and leave because it's not worth it. Or you should provide such an environment that users care less about rewards like in other social media.

Some people don't need rewards or are here truly for the sake of learning and blogging. I have been one of such user for whom rewards are actually a bonus and come second to content/blog. But I don't understand something rather a hypocrisy.

Why we want to make our accounts strong? Why we want our votes to be of higher value? Why we all want Steem's price to rise? Let's say, it rises then what? We are not going to spend the rewards. Steem will always stay locked in wallets. Then whether it be of zero value or of $10 , why do we care?

If we want users to stick, stop suffocating them with unrealistic rules. Let them breathe. Old Steemit didn't have clubs or burns yet it was better than present. In my opinion, clubs won't bring any change. They might have stablize Steem at $0.2 but it will stay here as long as people keep doing powerdowns after vigorous powers ups. Clubs have turned into a quickest way of collecting rewards only to leave when one has its fill.

You still want clubs and burns then why don't you burn or power up steemitblog's 5k SBD as a start or what about that 21 Million Steem? It would have been nice to see it utilized in new projects. Or is it ? Please enlighten if I'm unaware of something.

I am an old user and always had best interest at heart for Steemit. But I'm sure this comment will be taken as anything except constructive criticism and an army of sc01 worshippers will attack me. I know as CR I am supposed to obey Steemit team but it's also my duty to think beyond it that might help Steemit.

I didn't want to say it all because I was hopeful that Steemit will improve but I'm just tired now.

P.S. I won't mind if you unvote my CR report, I didn't like the vote percentage anyways. I also won't mind if you take back the delegation. It's not as pleasant to be a CR as I thought. It seems mending broken things is harder than creating new ones.

Hi,

Happy to see another user understood the truth.🙂

Very correct @event-horizon Powering up is good, very good because it helps to build our SteemPower, but sometimes one might have a serious financial emergency that could lead to powering down. If there were no clubs initiative (users are free to make transfers at will), I bet no one would attempt a power down.

Unfortunately any objections to the steemit team rule is seen as an attack, and so they may NOT vote the person anymore. People should be allowed to make constructive criticism and not punished or not voted for such.

Yeah, that's my whole point.

Steemit is filled up with selfish and greedy individuals, once an individual is getting due support he never cares about those ones they recruit if they get support or not, if there is due support for everyone club5050 - club100 will never be a problem.

I hope you remember our previous conversations when the clubs were introduced 😅
Pretty much sums up the whole story😁

I remember, we predicted the same future.

Clubs are like a cold mountain. You go to the peak to enjoy the view but unfavorable atmosphere stops you from staying there for long so you go down eventually.

Well said!
I applaud you for “speaking” your mind. 👏🏻👏🏻

You are a very intelligent person, and you have given your opinions very clearly, I really hope that everything works out and you don't go...

If we want users to stick, stop suffocating them with unrealistic rules. Let them breathe. Old Steemit didn't have clubs or burns yet it was better than present

I think you are probably wrong here. Which rule is suffocating who here? Is it for the benefit of steemit or us individuals?. Yes you are right, old steemit didn't have rules as such but the steemit team brought up such rules to help enable sustain the price of STEEM and bet me, if this rules didn't come in play like STEEM value would have been worsened now.

In my opinion, clubs won't bring any change

It brings changes my dear

Let's take it this way, why do you actually blame steemit for all the happenings? Is this crypto fall affecting only STEEM value?. Just take a look at what's happening to BTC and other coins. My dear it's a general issue and all other coins are affected so why blame steemit team on suffocating people with rules whereas they are trying all possible means to keep the price of STEEM up which will definitely benefit me and you

But be rest assured that once crypto pick it's usual bull run, STEEM won't be left out. So let's stop complicating things and pray for the future of general crypto to pick it's usual bullish run

Again, steemit team has made it clear that useful ideas are all welcome. So I suggest we seat and think of useful ideas that will make steemit funky again rather than saying all this because it will definitely discouraged alot of Steemians which will be bad. As we speak, so many are weakened at this moment and wonder what's happening

Like I said, nobody talks here in open because of the fear of losing support. I don't blame Steemit team for introducing clubs. I know the intention was to stabilize STEEM. But things didn't turn out as we expected. Talking about powerdowns here.

My point is, it was fine till club5050. A club5050 user is less likely to powerdown and leave than a club100 user. I already explained it above why it is so.

Just forget about steemcurators for once and think again what I said.

Also, things become suffocating when a user is expected to act like an employee and that too unpaid.

Let's take it this way, why do you actually blame steemit for all the happenings? Is this crypto fall affecting only STEEM value?.

Please read my comment again. I don't think I have written anything like that. Which part made you think of it? I will clarify.

I think I just gave some ideas how Steemit could be improved. I agree that community should come up with new initiatives and depend less on the team. But there are some areas like development and marketing which need the attention of Steemit Inc.

Why shouldn't I say all this and how is it discouraging? I thought I only discussed some issues. If there was a private medium to talk then I would have preferred to share my thoughts in private for sure.

If you are talking about the last paragraph, then yes, I got sarcastic there and I have my reasons for that. I assume the team will understand why I wrote that.

Actually, the whole market is facing the red zone now. And if we compare the crash with STEEM as compared to all other coins, then it's minor because STEEM is still better

If we look into history, whenever BTC crashed, we found steem very low somewhere at 0.15 or even less. But this time, there was a very huge crash in BTC, but we are so fortunate STEEM is still stable at 0.20 and more. I think it's l all due this #clubs and burnsteem projects.

So let's only hope for the future of crypto to be stabilize and regain it's bullish run because it's from there that STEEM too will run so high

But while waiting, we can keep bringing in new ideas that will keep this platform alive, active and booming

As @event-horizon rightly said, I think we are all entitled to have an opinion since we claim it is a “decentralized platform”. The clubs and burn initiatives are surely stabilising the price of steem but we can all agree than until we see a rice in the price of btc it will be very difficult for steem price to rise.

The truth of the matter is, no matter how knowledgeable we are or think we are in the field of crypto we can never predict what makes the price of an asset rises and falls. For me I think the club initiatives have been forced on people without allowing them to decide if that’s what they really want.

Even if many people won’t accept it, what attracted you and I to steemit was the rewards and if we can’t spend those rewards then what use it is being on the platform?

Much ❤️ dear.
You have spoken well.
A genius with good leadership skills.

Since I joined Steemit (not long before the clubs introduction), I haven't witness an appreciative value of STEEM after the introduction of the clubs and the burnsteem concept.
I thought they were meant to help Steem's value, but the case has turned different.

There is a lot to do by the team to make Steemit more pleasing and interesting that will attract more users and investors.

Clubs have definitely stabilized Steem but they brought many other complications along. I'm merely suggesting that we should opt the middle way. I don't support ripping all rewards.
