Steemit- The payout is not the destination.
So this morning while at the Hub, I had some visitors and they wanted to know how much they can get from Steemit. They even pointed out that they want to be more successful than I am. I was attentive for the first 10 minutes or more as they spoke and what was I doing..., I was listening and there were times when I should have said something but didn't.
I wanted to really understand why they are here at the Hub and why they thought I was successful.
You see, lots of times, we are motivated by the things we see other people achieve and that motivation is not genuine as it soon fizzles out because, it is what we see others have and what we then want which mostly never comes to us.
I understand people see me at the Hub and they think ejemai is successful on steemit but they fail to understand that success are not measured by what the hungry eyes sees but by what the satisfied mind is able to perceive irrespective of the picture before them.
So, we talked for some time and I told them what I thought they should be worried about, and that is, Putting in genuine work from a heart filled with love. They queried about the earnings and what they should expect when they join Steemit and I told them the truth... NOTHING. Yes, Nothing I told, Nothing. If they think it is easy to earn a buck on Steemit, then it is not for them.
The Steemian who brought them felt I shouldn't have been that way to them and I insisted I had done the best I could. You see, it is not about registering them, it is about getting them register themselves so that way they will "mine their earnings with their minds."
There are quite a number of individuals out there who think more of the payout than of the future gratification in Steemit. The payout is the journey and that is why most people stop when it fails to come, Steemit is the destination and once you understand that, you will see what I see and why I am not worried about the payouts as they appear at this time.
Steemit is becoming a full time work for me and I am really happy I am at a place where I can really boast and say, "I figured a goldmine and I am taking my people with me." I have worked in various sectors of the economy and I can proudly say I have seen it all and earned when it was sweet and when it wasn't. From the Financial, Business, Manufacturing, Oil and Gas and Marine sectors, I have done some wonderful stints.
Understanding what the destination is, in every travel is what makes the journey interesting. It is like life as we know it, the destination is the great beyond and we are well aware no one leaves the earth with their possessions, so many of us are careful not to be foolish to think amassing wealth for ourselves is the ultimate.
When I started out actively on Steemit, I was at a low in my life. I had just returned from an offshore gig where I spent over 4 months working only to return to so many issues waiting.
After the first month, the money soon finished and I had to start knocking on doors and sending my resume out for the next offshore gig that hasn't yet come. I soon dropped the desire to doing that slave work and focused on Steemit which quickly broke my spirit as I initially thought it was going to be a sweet picking.
Steemit is a hard mother f.. shut your mouth, I am talking about the Steem though.

I have always told everyone I know that Steemit is not easy and I still tell every newbie I recruit. I try to discourage them from joining the platform because I do not want to have 100 recruits who will end up abandoning their accounts thereby costing Steemit Inc so much money. I am okay associating with Five (5) vibrant Steemians over 100 inactive with fancy usernames.
What to you is the destination is not the same for the other. I think the destination is Steemit.
I woke up feeling the Lord of the Steems telling me of a more vibrant and rewarding community coming soon. I do not yet know how sweet it will be, but I am sure it will be what everyone of us will love.
So pick up your Steem and look beyond the payout as it is not the destination but a pointer to the ultimate destination. Use love and then, Steem like @ned is in the next door watching your performance. Steem free but then create a work ethic that looks like you work under supervised schedules.
Make the world a better place for someone today!
I thought of these when i first joined steemit. It was all about the payout for me. And i was not even getting it. I guess it was the fault of the person that introduced me to steemit. He should have clarified things. He just said i will make money for posting. He did not include other factors that i have to consider.
Well i wanted to give up but that happened at the time i started falling in love with steemit and not the pay. The people here are just good people. Having them around is enough reason to stay.
I am glad i never left steemit. And i do tell those people that i introduced that it is not all about the money. Its a social media.
The lucky ones will try but the ones that are not so lucky will go.
Everybody in the word cannot be on steemit
You are right, everyone cannot be on Steemit, but those that are here can change the world. Lots of people just are in too much of a hurry to explain to you what it takes to succeed in life, they are always quick to tell you how to succeed but showing you the ropes is another thing. Glad you stayed and got the idea, now you can teach others too.

Steemit has built my personality more than ever before, don't think I'm talking about money or reward because I've not taking a penny out of steemit since I registered, I'm talking of how steemit has made me more vibrant and thinking.
Exercise is ideal to our body but how do we take exercise to our mind and thoughts? That's what steemit stands for, that's what steemit can help one achieve, steemit is an institution, please never be a dropout!

This right here is why I love this platform..., the learning experience never stops and I agree it is an institution for the elites and future leaders. I once refered to it as the Ivy league of the Social Media world and I know I am right. Thank you for reading.
Doing a job without passion can not lead us to success, to succeed on steem one need to build the passion first, then the reward will come later otherwise the initial zeal will fissile out.

Great Great post. I'll sincerely tell you, it was the money that brought me in at first, but when I started to reply to my comments, mehn I started to feel like I was connected. I used to try to comment as short as possible initially so I could reach more people and get more followers, but now it's different. I comment exactly how I feel. The moment I decided that steemit is not a 'quick money scheme', I became relaxed and settled. I want my followers hip to increase but am in no haste to do that anymore. I want to grow it genuinely. Now am loving steemit, and am getting scared am getting addicted to it. Thanks for spreading the right message.
Thank you for this understanding and being able to relate with what truly makes a satisfying time here on Steemit. This platform has given me a chance to learn everytime and in more ways than one. I found out that connecting provides more education than the schools can teach.

I really enjoyed your article. When I joined (almost a month ago now, but it seems like a lifetime!), i was curious about the payout. Honestly, I didn't think I could actually make one cent. Seemed too good to be true. But I didn't join for the money, I joined because I love to write, it's the thing I do best, as well as the best thing I do and I saw a chance for readers in steemit.
For me, it's the best thing in the world, because it allows me to write anything I want, to meet people who share my interests, to relax. the money's nice, I'm not gonna lie, it's just not the main thing.
@honeydue. We all mostly are, but the good about this place is that with an open mind, the learning is fast and never ends. The money is always nice and no one can or should deny that; but then, the work helps call the money forth.
@worldfinances, Steemit is a decentralized platform that enables you mine your earnings with your mind and that cannot be bested by any other offering anywhere else. The more we are able to keep treating it as ou goldmine, the opportunities are endless.

I think we all had pretty same start :) I mostly joined because I hate commercial media and fake news. So I thought I have to tell others what is really going on. I hope steemit will stay raw as it is

I joined barely a month ago and have brought in some few persons, whereas, i should bring as many as possible considering the good number of friends i have. Actually among my friends, i select who i talk to about steemit because i wont have someone coming here with the make me rich quick idea then, upon failing go out there to spoil the minds of potential whales.
