RE: Steemit just got its own dedicated channel in the public DASH slack

In your opinion is Steem a threat to Dash? If Steem or Steem Dollars become a successful digital currency, couldn't they make Dash obsolete? Food for thought, buddy. I don't think there is that much of a need for more than a handful of actual cryptocurrencies that don't serve some specific function. Really only 1 or maybe 2.

I think they both serve a different purpose. I see a future for both projects.

I like Dash because of the privacy focus, instant transactions and the decentralized governance model.

Steem, on the other hand, found a way to incentivize content creators which is great.

But the nature of currency is for network effects to make one or a couple dominate. I guess my feel is that Dash has already lost to Bitcoin and probably Ethereum, and it's not because Dash isn't great or doesn't have great people involved or even better tech than Bitcoin, it's just that it's had a few years and it doesn't offer ENOUGH more than BTC or ETH and now it will face countless other emergent cryptos that do even more interesting things like Steem (sorta) or more exactly zCash.

I do love the Dash community's dedication and attitude though. But how do you win over a mass of people like Steem has?

Just few months ago Steem was at 20 mil mkt cap and $1-2k trading volume and look at it now. Things can change a lot, especially considering that few months in crypto world is like 10 years.

Never say never. :)

I never say never in crypto! That should be the first rule of crypto!
