My STEEM journey... Part 4
These blogs are a series of posts about my “digging deeper” into STEEM’s possibilities, apps and opportunities. I’m trying to learn as much as possible and I want to share these experiments and experiences with you my fellow STEEMians. It’s the kind of post series I would have loved to have for myself when I started here in STEEM. Well at least I try to live up to this ideal whit my articles. But again I do this for myself to document my – hopefully – progress here in STEEM. Maybe these are of some help for you too?
Anyways I’m very interested in your feedback! I’ll also put an STEEM Bounty on each of the following posts to hopefully get more interaction and responses on these little write ups.
Here the list of posts in this series I’ve published before:
190502 https://steempeak.com/@doifeellucky/my-steem-journey-part-3
190501 https://steempeak.com/steem/@doifeellucky/my-steem-journey-part-2

General points...
The latest article again got some more recognition, upvotes and interaction with fellow Steemians! Nice!
As I wrote in my first article on my STEEM journey I did not want to use any extra dedicated "boosting" by buying dedicated upvote/resteem services (but I’ve got vests placed for general “lifts” in recognition / see my delegations under https://steembottracker.com/delegation.html).
So again I did not boost the articles 1-3 besides a STEEM bounty I put on the 3’rd article which can be a form of boosting too.
The experiments regarding feedback without dedicated boost are over for me right now.
Besides the obvious facts that I’m a relatively small account, with a smaller following and that I surely didn’t help to grow my following by not posting much up until earlier this year, the now transparent results seem to be the achievable numbers in readers, upvoters, resteemers and comments at least for these topics that I'm handling in this series.
Maybe it’s also because these posts, or the subjects I’m handling in here, or the ways I write with my occasional ranting away might be not so helpful or all or again that it is simply not interesting enough to get significant (I don’t even know how to put a number on that btw.) resonance.
Please don’t get me wrong I’m thankful for all readers, upvotes, resteemers and commentators! Very thankful! But part of this journey is to check out where one can get to with such a set of posts in the form of experiments. I think it’s no secret that recognition here in STEEM is everything to get curation and to grow an account.
If the price for more recognition is to use dedicated boosters and one is willing to pay for it why not try that out too and make the efforts public – they are anyways because the STEEM blockchain is transparent – and report about the outcome.
As I wrote before I’m still doing this rather for myself than to expect big returns but again of course I would love it if it’s of some use for my readers.

My update for today on my "todo's" I've again placed between the bullet points. So let's see...
- learn something about STEEM or STEEM projects every day!
- ☑️ Yes that happened again! - There are still another 4 STEEM projects/initiatives left that I will look into one after the other. I will do that in the following days. - Blockchain analysis: I started digging deeper yesterday and today into our STEEM blockchain. I’m still in the middle of this so it’s to early to report much at that point but I can drop you some hints what I am looking for… - What are the most successful accounts doing besides their posts and curation to grow their following and SP? - From which account to account interactions could you come to the assumption that they are handled by the same individual or group of individuals? - Why is this of interest? I'll give you some more hints... pseudo intransparent upvotes/resteems, bidirectional referral handling (collecting on referrals, bonuses and so on) just to name two examples that are used to "make" more STEEM. - I stumbled over this while I was looking into how fellow Steemians invest into SBI. - To clarify... I won't drop any account names but I'll report about the methods and mechanisms that I seen. I can tell you so much already... I was shaking my head a lot the last few days not because of what I've seen here but because how naive I was... hahaha!
- Post something every day? - Nope… didn’t get around to that yesterday… besides some crossposting from Twitter do STEEM. But I’ll post this article here today - STEEM journey part IV. - I’ll still try to post an article everyday (besides share2steem Twitter to STEEM posts).
- Still very important(!!!), fight the urge to type every brain fart into a post! note to myself... fight harder...
- use my SP more for curating and supporting others rather than generating "autopilot" returns?
☑️ I touched this point before and came to the following conclusion.
- I'll stick with both for the moment
- I will use autopilot for some of my SP to make returns on my investment
- I will also continue to manual curate and engage further with the community
- Especially if there are changes implemented in the STEEM blockchain that give curators more returns for their effort and things start moving in a more profitable direction for manual curators I reckon I'll make some quick changes here... given that I have the time to do manual curation properly.
- Is it acceptable to further use upvote/resteem services for a smaller account like mine?
CLOSED ☑️Yesterday I wrote for the moment I say yes! After my blockchain analysis I'll second that whit definitely YES!
A lot of accounts use these or have used these in one way or a other. It seems normal for most of the Steemians and that shouldn't come as a surprise since being in STEEM with success is all about content recognition.
I'll revisit this from time to time but for now this is a closed point for me.
- can I do something to improve STEEM?
CLOSED ☑️ Too early to say I guess. Everything I can do in "drive by pragma style" I’ll do. Like supporting effort to get STEEM on exchanges promoting STEEM via Twitter and so on I'll do of course. I want to learn more first before putting my head into hammering something out beyond that. I'll close this point here too for later revisiting.
- Am I engaging enough with the community?
☑️I’m not sure about this… at least I’m doing all that I can to keep up with curating, comments, replies and so on. I’ll revisit this on a regular basis.
So far my update for today. I'll keep you posted!
And of course I would like to hear from you about this post or the apps mentioned or your experiences or anything! Go ahead and leave a comment if you like!

Hahaha! Ok!

I have been doing my own little test on organic vs paid engagement on Steem. I do use some of the upvote services like Smartsteem and Tipu for voting and delegation income, which does help allot. But my organic votes all come from using the dapps to post to Steem like Actifit, Parkito, and others. I also have found that I gain more followers when I engage more on other people’s posts. But I like to leave engaging type comments anyway, so leaving something to inspire someone instead of just a silly comment like on other platforms, does way better for my engagement than anything honestly.

Thanks for you reply!
Got it! Yes, I've seen that besides dedicated boost for pay being part of an initiative or using certain dapps with upvote incentive seems to work fine. I also try to engage so meaningful and thoughtful as possible. I think this is a good way to build on a strong STEEM foundation doing this. Sometimes tough the more ironic comments that I get on my posts are pure gold! I love that too! Especially when coming from people that are simply next level in regards of quality content. Sooo much to learn here!
Cheers!
