I Have Few Friends! Who Here On Steem Lives In British Columbia, Canada? 🇨🇦

Seriously I can count my real life friends still alive on one hand, each year that passes the number dwindles. None of them are local at all, the closest being an hours drive away and the rest several. Simply put my fiancé(Melissa) and myself(Cam) are pretty well alone in the city surrounded by strangers.
“Make new friends” I can hear you saying, well with all my time spent working or interacting on the blockchain that’s a fairly lost cause. I don’t like to “go out”, I don’t have a need to “party”, generally I don’t care to “speak with people”, I don’t have the time to “hang out” with coworkers nor do I want to spend more than 8hrs in a day with them. When am I supposed to “meet people” nevermind “befriend” them?
Sad thing, this last year I have met more people online and made more digital friends then I have ever had in my entire life!
Why is that sad?
It is sad because I have realized none of my RL friends have any interest in Steem or what I’m doing here, making it so I really have no one to share my experiences with. No one to share this passion for creation. No one to bounce ideas off of and rally for a conclusion.
My fiancé humours me and listens but I know she thinks it’s a waist of my time yet understands how it is a therapeutic outlet for me having seen my recovery and growth first hand. She supports me yet I know she still holds doubts, we love each other but that does not mean we share in all the same interests.
My best buddy @brettblue signed up but has yet to really do anything but he’s faced with the same dilemma with his fiancé so I understand completely!
My father created an account @dahmoose but the complexities are far past his technical abilities.
Alex my ex-coworker made the account @yumdrum and has made a few posts but gave up shortly after trying for the first times, had to many issues uploading to @DTube and @DSound.
My lead-hand at work said he has created an account but I have not noticed which may be his or has he said anything more then he has an account and watched a vlog or two of mine. Very vague interaction when ever I try bring it up.....
So now you know where I’m coming from maybe you’ll have more understanding as to what I’m thinking.
What if we had a blockchain dApp to meet locals.... k not like the dating kind of meet locals but like coffee dates or something with maps and the whole nine yards. Like Facebook friends but less tracking of your physical location constantly, events maybe you could say.
The idea is obviously incomplete but the point is, I’d love to meet some of you guys! I know there must be more locals if I found Steem & DTube. If I have the desire to meet some locals then some of you must share in that desire with me!?!
Who Here Lives in British Columbia?
More precisely who lives on Vancouver Island? Is there anyone that lives in the same city as me, Victoria?
I said once before I am looking for ways of bringing the joy of creation more directly into my life this year and I cannot see a better way other than a real life interaction with my fellow local Steemians. We could get together and cause a scene all wearing our merch, we could even go to the mall and try sell merch helping to raise awareness for our platform and projects. I like the idea of #OneLoveSteem foot soldiers and I believe in the power behind “word of mouth” at least when tackling the local front.
Putting my ideas out there with this post, that’s how I roll. Manifesting my reality through implementing intentions into creation on the blockchain and hoping they can be realized, adding value how I can with those ideas.
Who Else Believes...
A dApp to meetup with locals or arrange events on chain would be beneficial?
Do you live in British Columbia or on Vancouver Island, or know anyone that does? Tag them in the comments below, let’s see what the locals have to say!

I know exactly how you feel @d00k13.
Not a lot of Americans who live in South Korea are writing here on Steemit, either. Cryptocurrencies are very popular in Korea for the big guys. But, unfortunately, I do get a lot of eyebrows lifted when I mention crypto to a commoner. They all say, "oh tha~t!" as if it is all absurd. But little do they know that KakaoTalk, LG, Samsung, and Lotte are the leading contributors of cryptocurrency in Korea! My husband (korean), whom I love very much btw, thinks it's a waste of time making pennies. He keeps associating crypto with fiat money. The thinking styles are a little different. I just want to keep the blockchain up and running, and I want to see Steem(it) rise and be well on its feet. This platform is very important and we must keep it alive by having common interest groups among the Steemit Community. I'm ready to meet people with similar thinking styles, just like you are ready, too. Just to mingle in with people with common interests would be great.
As for an app or dapp, I know some general knowledge of the project, but to get it finished fast, we need to hire someone. If you want (because Koreans are good at that stuff) I could suggest your idea in Korean in the kr tag and see and answer to their responses and then see if anyone can help start to make it.
I do would very much like to collaborate because my skills in Korean and my location can put me in a good spot for contributing to steem and steemit...i believe. (This is my 23rd year living in South Korea just to note.) Anyway, enough said. I still would like to help if you find use for me even if it isn't creating a dApp. I was also thinking of a parenting dApp which runs along the same idea as your Meet-up dApp. You know, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to make one, just a little know-how. With connecting to steemit, that's easy. It's the interface of the app that's more difficult. Let me know but not ASAP because things have to be thought out very well. I'm on your side @d00k13. 😁
PS: sorry for the long post...
Right on, so we have a use case and potentially the power to make it become reality!
I think if we were seen more in groups out in public it would help for raising attention towards what the platform is all about and its potential moving forward even though it is relevant to a crypto currency, break the stigma type idea.
If you have the means go for it, I’m an ideas man myself. I’ll definitely support as much as I can but when it comes to development I’m a lost cause, don’t even know where to start!
The idea is out, from here it’s up to whom ever is willing to take on the project. I’ll keep thinking about details and reach out to a few people for support and guidance maybe this thing can become a reality!
I’ll keep you posted 💪

I totally believe that that would be fun as all get. I know of a couple of people in Pittsburgh which is about an hour and a half away from me let's team there are people in Cleveland which is 2 hours from me. I have referred at least five people to Steem who signed up and then do not really move forward with their accounts due to busy lives after trying it out. I admit this takes a lot of motivation and stick-to-itiveness and you must really like to write and interact online in order to make any blog on any platform work.
I would support and even promote a DApp that would promote local meet ups.
I have a loving boyfriend who supports my writing and respects me for it but he really goes in a completely different direction as far as his interest go. Anytime he's got a spare moment he's up in the airplane LOL. I'm thinking blockchain LinkedIn LOL

Yea a blockchain LinkedIn would be an awesome way for us to get together and support one another, bounce ideas off each other and possibly find the resources to make some of those ideas become a reality.
Bring in new fish and have them get to know some of the locals seeing what they are all about and experience the support in the real world thus understanding the support online is genuine! Could even have person to person lessons on how to start if that’s the case... or just a simple coffee and chin wag 👍
We want to be mainstream, well everyone in this day and age is having a hard time meeting people and the blockchain is no exception!
I would also completely support a dApp that brings some solution to the disconnect of the blockchain universe to our real lives.

It's fairly safe to say that you'll have too many "friends" once crypto's moon again. Then they will crawl out of the woodwork to find you. Also, you'll meet all of your long lost relatives that you never knew you had.
I wish that was the case, I know how to deal with users I was a dealer for many years that’s the reason I have very few people I consider friends left. As for my family it’s fairly unlikely I will ever hear from any of them again, I am the black sheep and you risk being outcast by speaking to me 😅

The reason I say this is friend of mine who recently passed was a Vietnam vet and had a case in congress over military tort (his captain in particular) and wrongdoing was found. He was awarded a large sum of money over the suit. The result was that he had to deal with everyone trying to hit him up for money after he won his case.
I hear this also happens to lottery winners who don't keep their identity secret.
I think I can safely say this will not be the case for me 😅 the only people that would be trying to hit me up are the ones that are close enough to me in the first place to know where I’m at 😎 you are right it’s the plague of the winner good thing I am not one 😉

Lol true.

Did I get you outcast also? 🤣🤣🤣

for sure about a great idea. it seems it is hard to interact with people in the real world these days. thanks for sharing
It really can be a challenge to connect in real life and I think having someway for us Steemians to plan events or meetups on chain could make all the difference in pushing the projects we are involved with into the main stream.
Thanks for stopping in 🤙

for sure i am a content creator myself, i do education videos for crypto, check out my series maybe i can help you learn better
I’m kind a retarded we will have to see about that! 🤪

Great idea & hello from Seattle!
You should check out the app Shapr too! It is Tinder for networking!!
Thanks bro, you’re really not that far away ehh? Ever come up to Victoria hit me up 🤙
Does Shapr have anything to do with dating? I am happily engaged 😅 and don’t want my fiancé thinking otherwise! Are there many Steemians on Shapr?
Posted using Partiko iOS
Hey man, no...just Tinder LIKE in a basic, swipe left or right way!
I don't know of any other Steemians on there, so I'm using it to spread the word!
Posted using Partiko Android
Looks interesting thanks dude, will be good to check out the other options in case this actually turns into a dApp 🤙

@d00k13, great post! I do support the idea about a dApp for meeting locals.
Btw, I have noticed that for me is much more easier to make friends with people interested in crypto than with others.
Come this year to the Steem Fest. You will be able to make friends with a lot of Steemians and it is really fun to talk to Steemians in real life.
Posted using Partiko Android
Yea I think this may become a thing moving forward 💪 I agree some tool for us crypto enthusiasts to get together will help strengthen our community!
When it comes to SteemFest it depends on where it is held, Canada maybe if I can afford it but other then that I won’t be able to attend as I’m not able to leave the country 😅

Thank you so much for participating the Partiko Delegation Plan Round 1! We really appreciate your support! As part of the delegation benefits, we just gave you a 3.00% upvote! Together, let’s change the world!
Suppose I really should do some feedback posts 😅
@crypto.talk so the idea of this post, events or meetups..... how hard would that be to implement in @Partiko?

Dont be sad you are give us good content everyday you are active man thank you i wish you better life im not live in british :)
Oh I’m not sad about it, I am just a realist and accept things as they are.
Where are you from? Don’t you think it would be awesome to be able to meet some local Steemians?
