I was trying, a couldnt get any definitive yes answers. Maybe ill just bite the bullet and pay the $15 and get the meetup.com group started.
You really should not mind the $15 dollar meetup fee. You will have so much fun organising meetups and meeting cool people. I am doing it since 2 years and I meet so many cool people. It is amazing. And it also helps to build a local community for topics you love ;)
Are you only asking 1 steemian to go? Who is the lucky guy? I kid I kid. I can't believe Steemit is big enough to support a Meetup in Munich. That's fantastic. Is there much german language blogging going on on it? Or is it still too English dominated?
We have a big Blockchain community in Munich with around +500 people. We at BitShares Munich host 2 monthly events and talk about Blockchain, BitShares, Bitcoin, Ethereum and now also Steem. We made a lot of good experiences with Meetup in the past and I want to introduce Steem to as many people as possible.
I think German blogging will come with more user adoption, right now you want to blog in English to reach the biggest crowd.
