Dan's take on DPoS development and any of my Steem peeps checking out the Voice beta?

I had been approved for the Voice Beta (currently only accessible to US residents) a while ago but just finally made an account tonight, mostly to read @dantheman 's response to @blocktrades post on the development history of DPoS. Currently you can't read posts on Voice unless you are participating in the Beta.

If you can't read it, it isn't a rebuttal of @blocktrades but more just a few of his own notes on DPoS. The key section is this

The big innovation with “dpos” was not the token holder election, but the process by which the elected producers reached consensus. This distinction is lost on almost everyone.

This process involved the realization that the fork with the most validators would grow faster than one with fewer because only one producer is assigned to a time slot.

The next innovation was a process where producers would be randomly shuffled in order. This prevented gaps and sustained collision of consecutive producers.

Then I realized we could generate cryptographic proof of double production to punish any attempt to create a secret fork.

All told this process of reaching consensus among a set of known validators was the key. The process of electing them was simply mirrored after corporate governance whereby shareholders elect a board.

If you haven't heard of Voice, is is a new blockchain-based social media network developed by @dantheman. It is actually not currently running on EOS main chain, but is rather running on a custom EOSIO chain.

Voice is likely not going to be your cup of tea if you are on Steem for the crypto or because you value the potential of anonymity and lack of true (not payout/flags) censorship:

• Voice rewards are a utility token that can only be used within the Voice network and have no outside value.
• Voice does a full KYC to include selfie and government ID.
• Voice also has a list of "Ground Rules" to include no overtly sexual content and no violence or gore:

Voice is a home for edifying and thoughtful compositions, not a place for sexytime fun. [...] Voice is a home for well-crafted commentary, not a repository of shocking or disgusting content.

Although I have been known to like my sexytime fun, anything I am likely to post about would be fine on Voice and I already go by my real name here on Steem and my other online presences.
