Is There A Bug In The Code? Pictures Don't Seem To Be Showing Up on Posts?

in #steem8 years ago (edited)

My last post had a couple of images and everything shows up fine before I submit.  After I submit the images aren't showing but it was able to pull the first image for my thumbnail.

Then when I go into edit the code the "http://"  has been taken from the front of the link to the picture.  I then change it to work and resubmit and it takes it out again.  Here is the post.

Any help would be appreciated!  Thank you in advance!

why put so much energy and attention towards something that is broken, better off just using what works, time is valueable

@craig-grant Yeah man I don't know what the issue is because all my other pics still serve up from my website. I ended up signing up for SteemIMG and now I'm using their bandwidth. Not going to trip! LOL Full STEEM Ahead!

I really appreciate you drawing my attention to this issue when it was happening with my post (https://steemit.com/cryptohowto/@wiser/how-to-build-wealth-with-diamond-coin). I took your suggestion and got an account with SteemIMG and that's working beautifully. The images are easy to upload, and it's easy to copy the url, so editing the raw code was very easy.

I've noticed something similar with at least one of my posts. Seems to be since the last hard fork. Haven't figured out what the issue is yet.

@thecryptofiend Yeah it is weird because I will try to then go in and edit the post and put the "http://" back in front of the image links and then when I update it takes them back out. It does seem like that but got in there when the hardfork went through just a few hours ago. It almost seems like other people new posts aren't doing that though so let me try to update it again.

They have disappeared on my latest post too. Very strange.
OK tried reinserting https: into the html and it seems to have worked this time. Why it keeps getting stripped I don't understand.

Try a https:// site for uploading, for example https://imgsafe.org/

@thecryptofiend is having the same issue and he has his images listed on a https:// site. I have been using my web server the entire time and it has to be a bug that got pushed out with the hard fork. https://steemit.com/steemit/@thecryptofiend/you-need-to-see-these-ethereum-foundation-skype-chat-regarding-etc

Seems to be intermittent. I normally use imgur - some images work, some don't so I don't think it is just an http vs https issue.

Yeah I don't think that is it either because I tested that theory. I also thought maybe it was if you put an image at the very top and very bottom of your post but I put the images deeper with text before and after and it still did it. I know it sounds bad but I was hoping that I would get Mad upvotes on this post for making a post about the bug first. Hahahhaha We can always hope @berniesanders comes along and shares the wealth. LOL

@sylv3se was was posting a link from @dantheman saying that imgur was blocking Steemit users for awhile. But that isn't my issue because I'm linking to my own web server. How did you fix the issue on the one post?

I just posted the https: bit back into the html code and it has started working again.

It is going to get nuts on here. I just did a post about how the payout here is so much better than any other platform right now. Please consider upvoting it. I just upvoted you! I just posted steemit's first pool meeting where I talk about my initial thoughts about it. Check it out!
