I Have New Things to Tell You!

blah_blah.jpg

It's been a busy week here at the ATS-David headquarters, so I wanted to update all of my inquiring followers and fans.

First and foremost, since literally everyone has been asking me about this and apparently needed some immediate answers...

I am still a Steem witness and my node is back up and running.

With all of the hard forking going on around here and the need to run replays afterwards, it took a while to get the new MIRA setup functioning. Prior to the last replay needed a couple of days ago, the previous one was at 98% when the chain broke again. But luckily for me, I have nothing but tons of free time, so replaying for eleventeen thousand hours again and watching people unapprove me as a witness because my node was temporarily disabled was super fun!

If you unapproved my witness because you thought I had abandoned it, please consider approving me once again.

In other news...I survived hurricane Dorian, which blew through town on Wednesday.

So, while the MIRA witness node was replaying, I was dealing with some weather out of the tropics. I know everyone was extremely concerned about my physical well-being, so I just want to report that I am OK, the house is still here, and it's now 95 degrees during the day once again.

Lucky me.

As promised to many people a while back, I will be restarting my daily manual curation and have set up a curation trail.

With the return to 50/50 rewards, I will honor my word and return to my regular curating habits that existed prior to the past year. If you'd like to follow my votes, you can follow this account - @ats-david - and jump on board the curation gravy train!

goldbars.jpg

My trail will be back-loaded with ~63K STEEM Power in the @ats-witness account which will vote one minute after this account's vote. Delegations should be returned soon and then I will re-delegate to where the SP is needed on the trail and begin curating.

Full disclosure: I will be self-voting posts from this account and from any official posts from the BRO Sports & Gaming Network. The number of votes cast for these accounts will be minimal - likely averaging about one per day.

The rest of the voting power will be used in the sports and gaming tags and on other content that I feel is valuable. I make no promises to "the community" about my curating habits and I do not vote based on the size of one's wallet. I upvote things that I like and I neither apologize for it, nor do I seek opinions or advice about how I ought to be voting.

I was once on of the top curators on this platform, before I had whale followers and without trying to vote on people who were already "popular" users. I hope to be able to duplicate that success.

The BROsino is flying along and picking up new players daily!

If you have not checked out the #1 FREE online casino - where you can play zero-risk casino games and win STEEM - then you are truly missing out! The @brosino is the best casino out there for gamers and anyone looking for a fun gambler's experience...without the risk of gambling your own money!

If you read this far, then thank you very much for your attention! Also...I apologize for making you think that I had anything interesting to say.

Yep...you read all the way through and have learned nothing that affects your every day life in any meaningful way.

Welcome to the internet! Have a nice day!

Well I never quit your witness. I always found you to be a breath of fresh air. I think more witnesses need to be less afraid of displeasing StInc and more concerned with the good of the site.

BTW I still manually curate myself. Every single day. And post. Never have bought a vote and sure as hell not going to start now. Good to see ya.

+1

I have never used a bid bot myself. I don't particularly like them...and I even ran a voting bot for BRO (@bro-rando), but it was like Randowhale, which I did actually use a few times and thought it was actually a brilliant idea. It's too bad that such an idea evolved into the opportunism and exploitation that bid bots and their owners quickly pounced on.

But it's not entirely their fault. Our "leadership" around here created those opportunities and exploits. I pointed it out many times over and have been marginalized because of it. I'm just glad that I've been vindicated several times in the past year already and I'm glad to see that there are some other people willing to speak up and fight for good changes...even if their motives are questioned and questionable.

I'll take the victory here. I think it's good for Steem - but I also think there's a lot more that needs to be revisited and improved upon.

I've noted your dedication to posting here and while I haven't engaged much in the past year, I do see you and I appreciate your dedication to your blog. That's what helps social networks grow and what will ultimately help you grow your brand/followers. So, good job for sticking with it!

Nice. I remember seeing your name up around mine on whale(something or other).com (can't remember the name, even though I used it daily for many months), where they ranked curators for their curation payouts relative to their SP. I remember you always being in the top 30, perhaps even lower (20? 10?), and I'm pretty sure that we flipped ranks quite a few times (I believe I ranked as low as top 10 curators for a while).

That said, I respect your approach of manual curation, as I chose the opposite (lazy) route of automatic curation through bot voting on a small list of what I considered under-appreciated, but consistently moderate earning authors, who I figured posed much less curation competition (for vote timing and other relevant things to consider) than the top earning authors.

Do you happen to know if there's a site that compares curation stats that still exists today? I can't recall the name of the site that I used back then, but I'm fairly sure that it went defunct right before I stopped using it (probably close to two years ago).

I think you're talking about SteemWhales.com, which now redirects to SteemitBoard.com and doesn't show curation scores.

I believe Steemwhales was run by @heimindanger and I do believe I saw your name on those curation lists. I was once in the top-10, I think. At one point, I was #2. Not sure if I ever saw #1 or not - I only checked it occasionally.

I mostly switched to some delegated bot voting due to not having much time and with the little time I had, the 25% or less of curation rewards was not worth spending that little time on Steem, searching through massive piles of absolute trash. Instead, I spent time with my baby boy who is almost a year old and I got the BROsino up and running with my partners. And we'll have more releases soon.

But now that things have marginally improved around here, it's time to get back to curating. Hopefully this isn't just a temporary move in the right direction.

Yep, that's the one!

I was one of the 10X per day self-voters (and, yes, I'm ashamed of myself for making that decision) until a down-voting trail found me and forced my hand (into delegating my SP to a promotion bot). The 25% curation reward was a definite turn-off and I came really close to simply powering down all of my SP and liquidating my whole account on more than one occasion.

Good man! You've got another witness vote coming from this guy (not today though, cuz I'm already going to be lucky if I get 4 hours of sleep tonight, but I'll see to it that it happens before the end of this week).

But now that things have marginally improved around here, it's time to get back to curating. Hopefully this isn't just a temporary move in the right direction.

100% on the same page.

This @ats-david character was one of the curators who helped me get my blog off the ground here back in the early days.

It's good to see you're getting back in the game.

I had not seen a post in some time on @ats-witness, so thought you may have dropped it.

Voted for you again as witness.
