My take on Flags and this Weeks Flag war
The week was once again dominated by a flag war between a few small accounts from the German community and a whale. Nothing new under the sun.
The only thing that baffles me is that people do not learn from the past how to avoid such wars. We have a blockchain available and theoretically we can read everything what happened before and how this things rolled out in the end.
Did they do that in this case? Of course not. None of the participants made the effort to de-escalate the conflict.
Some came back with the opinion that the flags should be removed from the blockchain as an option.
I am strong against that. The flags are the only sensible way to fight Scam, Spam, Reward Pool Rape and Idiotic Ideas.
I also flag, try to give flags in addition to the votes. I flag flat-earth theories, political extremism garbage. I do not flag it for invisibility but for $ 0 rewards. In my opinion, this is $ 0 worth. Of course I can be wrong, but I can live with it and sleep well.
Flags are important to me for Steem. How does that look?

die Woche war wieder mal gepregt von einem Flagg Krieg zwischen ein paar kleine Konten aus der deutschen Community und einem Wal. Nichts neues unter der Sonne.
Das einzige wo ich verblüfft bin ist das die Leute nicht aus der Vergangenheit lernen wie man solche Kriege vermeidet. Wir haben eine Blockchain dafür zur verfügung und theoretisch können wir alles nachlesen.
Hat man das in diesem Fall gemacht? Natürlich nicht. Keiner von den Beteiligten hat sich die Mühe gemacht um eine Deeskalation des Konfliktes.
Da kammen wieder einige mit der Meinung das man die Flaggs entfernen soll aus den Optionen der Blockchain.
Da bin ich aber stark dagegen. Die Flaggs sind das einzige vernünftige Mittel um Scam, Spam, Rewardpool Rape und Idiotische Ideen zu bekämpfen.
Ich flagge auch, versuche neben den Votes auch Flaggs zu geben. Ich flagge Flat-Earth Theorien, politischer Extremismus Müll. Ich flagge es nicht zur Unsichtbarkeit sondern zu 0$ Rewards. Meiner Meinung so was ist 0$ Wert. Klar kann ich mich täuschen, aber damit kann ich leben und ruhig schlafen.
Für mich sind Flaggs wichtig für Steem. Wie sieht iht das?

Opinion should not be the measure by which people get punished or not. If someone thinks the earth is flat, that says something about that person's education - yet he has the right to believe that.
Its just like this post of your's. I dont agree with it, but I would not flagg it because of that, I rather try to talk with you.
Yes, it is only my opinion on it. Well, flat earth for example is idiocracy as it finest and people seem to get connected to it for no reason. It is dangerous because science and facts are denied. Like said I don't flag it to become invisible, I flag only the rewards away from it as Steem has the option for a flag on disagreement on rewards and I think everything over 0$ is to much.

Taking the reward away is already punishment, and doing that only based on opinion is questionable. You see, lets say flat earthers should be flagged - and who else? Fundamentalist Muslims? Trump supporters? Bible thumpers? It only depends on your standpoint in those matters - and those people think the same way. Do you see where this is going?
I dont flagg posts because I have a different opinion on the subject. I may make a comment, if I see a chance for a reasonable discussion, thats all. I only flagg if I see posts that are harmful to the Steemit community, like fraud or other criminal activities. The last time was, when someone advertised perscription drugs like opioids here. Thats no matter of opinion, its simply a potential danger to Steemit, because it is a illegal activity.
But anyway, this is also just my opinion and you are free to do it your way.
Please go and check out the ecotrain network here on Steemit. Get into a discussion. You won't remain unflagged. I second your opinion that words should be better. But there are plenty of people out there who just want to be listened to, they don't feel like listening to others.
And we have such people in the German language blogs too.
You couldn’t have said it better! Flagging because of one’s beliefs looks a lot like censorship to me...

You are messing up beliefs and opinions. Belief (in a flat earth, God, the absence of climate change etc.) must never be regarded as an opinion (something that can be changed in a person) because it never can be changed from the outside. The only way to deal with it is acceptance. Acceptance you won't get from the other person because that person feels major.
Well, belief and opinion are closely related and often one is based on the other. But that is not important in this context. All I'm saying is that it should not be the reason to flag someone. Flagging should happen based on certain strict rules - and more than just a " I dont think so" or "I dont like this".
I don't think it was on a "I don't like this" level. It's not new that there's no consensus on (any) truth. Ever met a vegan who is not consumed with the thought that there could be no animal slaughter which does not harm animals?
Take a look at @caladium and @mepatriot, if you need an example for what goes beyond "liking content". Or check out similar German blogs like @isabellaklais, @roozbehbayat or @wissenskrieger. The first one seems to be on a mission to destroy a political system which (in my eyes) is not as overrated as she presents it. And she doesn't feel like discussing her viewpoint either.
Yeah, after having slept over it once or twice I don't feel a need for a category #informationwar and a @truthbot who vote and publish information about how harmful vaccination is or about the bad bad democrats in US congress. To me, there's no alternative to vaccination to keep a global society healthy. Everyone can get anywhere within a few hours. Travelling and immigration have been vectors for spread of diseases for ages. How could there be a need to discuss that or a human climate change which (in my opinion) is a result of increasing goods and people transport?

Ich für meinen Teil sehe das ganz ähnlich wie du.
Jeder sollte die Funktion der Flags nutzen sofern er oder sie diese Flag begründen und argumentieren kann. So wie du in deinem Fall ganz klar sagst, wofür du eine Flag vergibst. Das finde ich gut.
Was ich hingegen sinnlos und dumm finde ist, wenn man einfach flaggt weil man eine Person nicht mag oder ihr schaden will... Sowas sollte man meiner Meinung nach unterlassen.
Bei dem von dir angesprochenen Flagwar ging es aber darum, dass der Wal auch Beiträge geflaggt hat, die nichts mit dem Streitthema zu tun hatten und das ging meiner Meinung nach zu weit.
Aber wie du es auch ganz richtig sagst: Solchen Konflikten sollte man einfach schon im Vornherein aus dem Weg gehen und es erst gar nicht so weit eskalieren lassen.
Es ist Sinnlos mit dem Typ zu kämpfen. Wenn man es über ein direkten Kontakt versucht, wird man sehen das man sehr schnell nach vorne kommen kann.

Just my opinion.. but I'll never flag someone because of their beliefs.. people are allowed to believe whatever they want.. you think the earth is flat? Good for you. You think Hitler was a good guy? Great. I won't upvote you because I think that's stupid.. but EVERYONE should be entitled to their opinion... even if it's wrong

Flaggen sind für mich nur akzeptabel bei persönlicher Bedrohung oder Beleidigung. Politische Extremisten und Flacherdler kann man besser mit humoresken Kommentaren bloßstellen. Glaube die sind genug gestraft mit ihrer Behinderung. Wenn hier nur noch eine weichgespülte Einheitsmeinung geduldet wird, ist es vorbei mit der interessanten Vielfalt. Kann aber jeder halten wie er will. Meiner Meinung nach wird das Blogging in Zukunft sowieso ein Nischenprodukt auf Steemit werden. Steemmonster, Magicdice und co werde sich in den Vordergrund drängen.
Du votest ja auch bei Isabella Klais. Die mir nicht den Eindruck macht, als hätte sie an irgendeiner Meinungsvielfalt Interesse.
